What do you think of this gaming build?

I have been looking at this for a while now, from the research I have done I have came up with this build and its still way over budget. Here is the build:

http://gyazo.com/e8f5641f13c115591ea73f8fa2e91542

It comes in at £820 and my original budget was £800, and I still need a monitor.

1) Would this set up above run games like BF3, Skyrim, Crysis and future releases on maximum settings?
2) Is there any way of reducing the price whilst keeping the quality of the spec? I'm new to PC stuff so I wouldn't know lol.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

NOTE: All of these components and their prices above are from the Overclockers website.

Looks about right, cant see anything worth changing:)

You are aware that the motherboard only supports Crossfire at 16X/4X?

I have just ordered a very similar build (same motherboard, cpu and graphics card), the Crossfire issue essentially means that if you intend on buying a second graphics card (another 7850), you will see a much smaller performance increase with the two cards than you would if you had a more expensive motherboard (one capable of running two pci-e slots at high speed).

It is not an issue if you only intend on running that one graphics card.

1) Yes.
2) Decreasing your budget will decrease the quality of your build.

OcUK have a 6950 on offer today for £150 which will provide close to the level of performance of a 7850.

You lose some performance as you can see.

As I said, I'm a newbie haha. What does that mean and what impact will it have on the components I have selected?

Better boards support Crossfire at an equal 8X/8X, so both cards get the same bandwidth.

If you will never get a second 7850 and team it up, then dont worry.

If you do want the option of adding a second GFX card, then this board supports Crossfire better - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-390-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=2261

Looks like a nice spec - there aren't many changes you can make to save money without comprimising performance.

I guess you could go for this 1333MHz RAM kit and save £14. For playing games there really won't be any noticable drop in performance compared to the corsair 1600MHz kit.

Also, if you only plan to run a single graphics card then this 500W Coolermaster modular PSU would be a good option and save you £7.

As osprey mentions - the HD 6950 for £150 would save you a good chunk of money and perform really similarly to a stock HD 7850. However, the HD 7850 has a few benefits that are not represented by the pure performance numbers. The HD 7850 uses the new 28nm AMD core design so runs very cool and quiet - also it overclocks extremely well (see here). In these areas the HD 6950 isn't nearly as good - though it is a fair bit cheaper and still pumps out good gaming performance - so I guess it is up to you.

However, the Bitfenix case only has a single fan in it - so with that spec I would recommend adding another fan or two - or change to a case with more fans pre-installed.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am looking for a build which will last me a while and support future games so I want to go with the HD 7850. I don't want to decrease the quality of the spec lol.

@ Bezzaboy - How many posts do you need to qualify for free delivery?

Also: would the Sapphire HD 6850 run the games mentioned at good settings?

I'd save up or spend some time posting to get some free delivery :),

For that budget its very difficult to fit all that in with a i5 ivy and 7850.

I thought the 7850 was a poor choice for the price as it performs on par with a 6950?,

EDIT, Also the MSI board I linked has the capability for another 6850 in the future which would provide great gaming performance,

That's my 2 pence spent :)

No problem. I just checked the free delivery there and since I live in Northern Ireland, I don't qualify anyway, its mainland only.

I think I will get a Sapphire HD 6850 in the mean time along with that MSI board as you said so then I can buy another Sapphire HD 6850 in the future.

What kind of performance would I get from one HD 6850 for games such as BF3, Skyrim and Crysis?

A few people have said that and obviously missed the 'and' part. I got excited as I'm ordering soon but I can't wait for the 90 days and I'm also not into spamming.
Think I'll order and bite the bullet with delivery costs :D

I have one of these MSI 6850's and its impressive, Crysis plays fine, so by proxy I would assume Bf3 and skyrim plays fine on my XFX 6850. and will probably continue to play well in the future, for £84 you are paying for around 40>60 FPS in most games at max settings at 1080p, crysis probably more into 30>40 frames.

For £80 you are getting a bargain, two would probably push that towards 60>80/90 FPS
