New Car Suggestions (£15-20k)

So my mums 2002 VW Passat 1.9 TDi is coming to an end and therefore it's time for a new motor!

She's looking for potentially her last car and was looking at a VW Golf TDi GT as she's always wanted a Golf, but trying to steer her away as I feel it's a bit of a standard/boring choice! (not saying it's a bad car btw)

Budget:

Max £20k

Requirements:

- Sporty Hatchback / Coupe (smaller than the Passat basically)
- 3DR / 5DR
- Good Reliability
- Good pickup with BHP to be equal or preferably >130
- Good boot space
- Preferably Diesel and good MPG
- Newish (5k-20k mileage)


Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! What would YOU suggest?

I'd suggest that you don't need to spend anywhere near that kind of money to get a good car that meets all your criteria.

You are aware that the golf and sciro have an identical wheelbase right?

Get the golf if thats what she has always wanted. A friend of mine has the top spec gt tdi mk6 and its a great car.
 
Wow, they look so different! Infact actually the Golf looks better as the plastic on the centre console doesn't look as obviously crappy :p

I did say slightly ;)

Compare it with a MK5 Golf as that was in production when the Scirocco was released and it's even more boring :D

Unfortunatley I'm in the market for a quickish diesel hatchback and this meets the criteria :mad:

I want an A3 but I'm not spending that much money on a car that's been in production for 9 years is it now?
