Hey guys

I built my new gaming PC earlier this month and im looking for a good control pad to play certain games.

I was thinking about going witht the xbox360 pad but my prefered gaming console is PS3 so im not sure that the 360 pad would cut it for me....

What pads are you guys using?

360 pad is *the* most supported pad on pc. Pretty much every game that supports a pad will work with a 360 pad out of the box.

I use the PS3 pad with MotioninJoy to emulate it as a 360 controller. Just waiting for a bluetooth adapter to arrive so I can play it wirelessly :D

The only time it's a problem is when I'm playing a game and it says 'Press X to _____' and I'm sat there pressing X on the PS3 controller, when it actually means the 360 'X', which is square! Sure I'll soon get used to it though, it's so worth it because I much prefer PS3 controllers.

Cyborg V3 PS2700, ps2 & 3/pc fully programmable rumble pad, or they do a cyborg xbox/pc rumble pad also fully programmable and now both are at a very reasonable price to buy..

I have the V3 PS2700 but don’t really use a gamepad, I think I must have had a bit of a nostalgia feeling when I bought it, that or its just another gadget. :D

I do like the fact its fully programmable..

I also like my old 360 pad I have, but don’t use.

Matter of taste I suppose.

I use the 360 pad

Just a shame about the terrible D-pad, old games like Tony Hawk 2 are awesome on the PS2 pad

360 pad here too. Prefer it over the PlayStation controller and works brilliantly. Most games would automatically configure to it and show up the correct buttons to press straight away (unlike the issue Rossatron mentioned)

Buy a wireless pad with a included receiver and youre good to go. The receiver simply plugs into a usb port on your pc.

Ok you all convinced me... 360 Pad it is..... How does the wireless pad work with PC? :s
I purchased one of those small Microsoft USB Controller Receivers and it works flawlessly as expected. - Link

The 360 Pad really is great for gaming on the PC, especially with titles that have been built around pad gameplay such as Arkham City, Assassin's Creed and even Skyrim with the pad isn't painful on the PC with the UI mods out there.

With regards to you being used to the Dualshock controller, I was in the same boat as you before I bought my 360. Now I swear by the 360 controller over the Dualshock and it fits so much nicer into your hands.

Plus, you can connect up to 4 pads to the PC at once; makes for fun 4-local co-op Dungeon Defender sessions.

This. Though the only problem i can see with it is to manually turn the controller off you have the remove the battery pack slightly and then clip it back in. Unless you leave it idle for 5 minutes or so.
