Your First Concert

I think it was the Levellers at the Ilford Island or Oasis promoting their first single/album, same venue.

The Saturdays in 2009. Was half decent actually.

Followed that one up with Muse in Teignmouth later that year. Utterly, utterly amazing.

Although my Mum's first concert was Queen, Knebworth, 1986. So jealous of that one. :o

Chemical Brothers, Newcastle Uni 1996

Was the week Dig your own hold was released, death in Vegas were the walm up

Probably still the best gig ever.

The Freshers Week headline gig when I went to uni (1995) was The Bay City Rollers. Not a very good gig but hysterical in its own way. Especially as the booking guy kept frantically telling anyone who would listen that he'd booked them because they were "retro" and not because he was a brainless, hopelessly uncool, bean counter. :D

God, just realised what a late starter I was.

AC/DC , Wembley Arena, 11,12 and 13 March 1988. I was 25.

All the stuff I could have done in my formative years but didn't :(

Good grief man, I started when I was 13 in 1971.
If you'd started at 16 you would have seen all the NWOBHM bands.

First ever gig: JJ72 at De Montfort University Student Union, Leicester, England, November 8th 2002 (According to Setlist Wiki)

I remember being under-age and drinking a lot of cheap Grolsch. Was an awesome gig

First Festival: Download 2005
Last Festival: Hammerfest 2012
Last gig: The Black Dahlia Murder, SkeletonWitch, Fleshgod Apocalypse & Vectors (local support) Rescue Rooms, Nottingham. 17th Jan.

Upcoming gigs: "Local bands" (Thirteen Shots + Support) (Birmingham), Download Festival, Bloodstock & InfernalFest.

I first saw Sabbath in 71/72 and obviously went on every tour they did in England.
Luckily Victoria Hall Hanley or Trentham Gardens were always a major venue to come to and I even saw Sabbath with Van Halen supporting when they were promoting their first album.
I have never seen Sabbath without Ozzy singing because it isn't Sabbath (and no, not even RJD could save them).
I first saw Rainbow on their first tour at Bingley Hall Stafford with RJD singing and funnily enough his old band Elf were supporting.
I then saw Rainbow on their next 5 or 6 tours until I got bored with them.
My second band is based around Purple/Rainbow & Sabbath and my lead guitarist was once in a Ritchie Blackmore tribute band.

After Dio left, I treated the rest of Sabbath as Iommi solo projects because that's what he wanted with Seventh Star. It's a shame that so many people miss out on his later work as I think everything apart from the Gillan stuff is fantastic. Whilst it wasn't the original Sabbath lineup, they still brought out some fantastic stuff.

Tony Martin brought some amazing talent to the band along with Murray and Powell. From what I gather, Ozzy did **** all and they got sick of it eventually. Didn't even write his own lyrics.

As for the Rainbow stuff, I am very jealous because I love the stuff RJD and Blackmore did together. Just a shame it was well before my time :( (I'm 21).

Hoping I get to see Deep Purple before they stop touring.

Jean Michel Jarre - Destination Docklands in 1988.

Was the most mind blowing laser and firework-fest I'd ever seen at 10 years old.
Just a shame that it was absolutely bucketing it down and really windy but I loved it none the less. I was really into JMJ at the time - odd for such a young kid I know.

The Pogues - NEC Forum, December '88

Fantastic concert, set was a bedsit with Andy Ranken sat inside an enormous sofa, when Fairytale Of New York started Kisty MacColl came out of the fridge.

Saw them a couple of times after that but they were a shambles by then.

I know. I was extremely shy as a youth and it took my nutty cousin moving into the area to get me out and enjoying the best things in life.

Still remember going to a Saxon gig on the pillion of his huge bike. Funny how Maiden flew out of the NWOBHM into megastardom, yet Saxon, Angelwitch, Diamondhead ...never quite got the break.
