Your First Concert

Nile the death metal band about 5 years ago.

The sound sucked and the crowd were shouting SLAYER at the end so they didn't do an encore :(

Which tours did you see Sabbath and Rainbow on? Very jealous indeed! I'm seeing Sabbath at download this year - figured it would be the last chance I'll get.

I first saw Sabbath in 71/72 and obviously went on every tour they did in England.
Luckily Victoria Hall Hanley or Trentham Gardens were always a major venue to come to and I even saw Sabbath with Van Halen supporting when they were promoting their first album.
I have never seen Sabbath without Ozzy singing because it isn't Sabbath (and no, not even RJD could save them).
I first saw Rainbow on their first tour at Bingley Hall Stafford with RJD singing and funnily enough his old band Elf were supporting.
I then saw Rainbow on their next 5 or 6 tours until I got bored with them.
My second band is based around Purple/Rainbow & Sabbath and my lead guitarist was once in a Ritchie Blackmore tribute band.

Silverchair, Shepherd's Bush in 2003. All I remember is being really high up, I only went because my girlfriend loved them :p Turned out to be quite good actually.

I was at that gig :) was great.

My first concert was Meatloaf in 1993? I think. It was at Birmingham and I was only 9. I can remember parts of it.

After that was Forigner, supported by the Doobie Brothers.

Been to many many many since then!

Jethro Tull / Marillion, Wakefield 1982. Tull's Broadsword and the beast tour. Marillion were one of the support acts. It was a few months before they released their 1st album (Script for a jester's tear).

My parents took me in maybe 1991/2 to see GARY GLITTER! at Sheffield arena. He came on stage on a motorbike and didn't try to have sex with me. Not sure whether to be annoyed about that or not.

The Mission, Elgin Town Hall - August 14th 1989

Edit: I think the cost of the ticket was all of a fiver!

Iron Maiden - July last year at the Nottingham Trent FM Arena during the Final Frontier world tour.

My very first gig and will probably be one of the ones that I will always remember. Also it was one of very the best nights of my life, I was mostly deaf and lost my voice for the best part of the next day but it was worth it.

As soon as they announce UK dates for the upcoming "Maiden England" tour I will be ordering a ticket. Some point in the future I would love to see Metallica live as well.

Erasure 1988 @ the NEC, there Cracker international or STOP tour. Brilliant back then :)

God, just realised what a late starter I was.

AC/DC , Wembley Arena, 11,12 and 13 March 1988. I was 25.

All the stuff I could have done in my formative years but didn't :(

Tenacious D when they were promoting the Pick of Destiny in the UK (Hammersmith Apollo), going to see them again in a few weeks at Brixton.

My first ever concert was when I went with my Dad to see a jazz concert in Nottingham - I can't remember the name exactly, but it might have been the Pat Methany Group since it's his favourite band. Second ever one was Paul Weller when I was about 12 - saw him in London a few months ago and got appropriately star-struck!

Blink 182, December 2005. Was 15 at the time and loved it, despite being in the seated area. Also the last time I ever had a seat at a concert!

showaddywaddy late seventies

In 1981 I played guitar for Showaddywaddy for 2 gigs at Jollees :)
They all hated each other and demanded seperate areas to get dressed but on two nights the guitarist didn't turn up and with us being the support band I was asked to deputise.
I had to setup off stage out of the view of the audience but where I could still see the band.
