Testing my i5 2500k, 4.5 @ 1.308v it's done just over 4 hours as i currently type this under blend testing.

How many hours would suffice to determine weather the clocks are stable or not?

personally i leave it for 8hrs minimum, thats why i let it run overnight.
or try running Intel burn test for 20-30 passes, i find it finds an unstable overclock faster than prime.
i ususally do IBT first then prime. but thats just my opinion

I did 12+ hours of prime with my old AMD chip then it crashes within 2 hours folding.

Folding I find to be the ultimate test of stability. Leave it running 24/7 will test your OC, and you have the bonus of helping science as well.

Like others have said you seem to need to run prime for a good 8+ hours to test a stable overclock.

I do kinda like J. col and run OCCT instead of ibt for an hour and then prime for about 8/overnight.

i'm currently running small fft whilst i'm in work (8hours ish by the time i get home) ran 10 runs of IBT on very high, and then will do a blend for general stability including ram over night so for another 8 hours

i just tell myself its stable after 20mins, until it crashes on some real world scenario ;)

lol xD i usually do this till i go to bed and have the time to run prime overnight.... but obv if it BSOD in game in the evening i'll knock it up a step :p

but IBT is pretty good, set it to very high and run for 10+ loops and it's a pretty good indication :)

I run 5 loops of IBT on maximum and then 6 -12 hours of Prime95 on blend (the new version that supports more memory) and then 10 loops of IBT on maximum.

last night 30 loops of IBT max ram possible, with 12 hours on prime and occt previously

i defo deem my o.c stable,..unfortunately it's at 4.4 couldn't manage 4.5 oh well..

iirc you should not use folding to test for stability,
just run Intel burn test for 20 passes
