Guys,

Im driving a Nissan 300zx ‘90 2+2 3.0TwinTurbo. Me and my little one love the car, the booster seat goes in the front and she comes out with me a lot of the time. Yet its not pratical when the wife needs to hop into the car too.

The booster seat however fits terribly in the back of the Zed, I mean I cant help but feel its more unsafe for her to use the seat, rather than use the stock seating/restraints that are there.

After surfing around, I saw an Australian driver having the same issue and he was able to get his car exempt from the childrens seats laws as they could see that it was much safer to seat the child without the booster device.

Heres some pics to show what I came across.

So what can we do here in the UK, can we get a similar exempt status over here? Any other ideas what I can do?

how tall is she? now I know nothing of children or car seat laws, but she looks plenty big enough to not be using one :s I certainly dont remember being in a booster seat when i was that kinda age

Get some really crapy booster seats, narrow and short with no back.

Ive had to do that to get mine in the back of XKR's.

You need the lift on the childs hip point to prevent 'buckle crunch' where the belt load goes through the buckle housing sideways. It wont hold the child properly in a crash and there is risk of submarinng with the internal organs stopping them rather than hip bone.

Big seats just bridge the squab pieces rather than dropping in, as your image shows.

uk law states they have to be under 1.4Metres or over 12 years of age (that i can see) 2bh, even if she was 1metre, the original seating i feel would deem much, much safer than using the booster seat.

Common sense vs UK law? good luck with that :P

Google bubblebum car booster seat.

If it fits in my Westfield for my 5yr old son to use, it'll fit in your car :-)
