I'm concious that I probably don't need to spend silly amounts for this modest overclock, so what would you guys suggest?

Will spend up to say, £40, and cooler cannot be no more than 160mm in height.

Just want something cooler/quieter than stock Intel heatsink.

Thanks :)

Two questions,

1) What case do you have? need to check you can get the side panel back on, you say 160mm, but can it take 163mm?
2) What RAM do you have?

I have a Fractal Define Mini, specs state 160mm max. Also, RAM is Corsair Vegenace (tall), in slots 2 and 4 of Maximus IV Gene-Z.

Please forgive my changing of budget, but I was now thinking of the following:

Noctua U12P SE2 (preference, but not sure will fit)
Noctua UB9 SE2 (less performance, not much cheaper, will fit)
Corsair H60 (would probably mean changing my case airflow around)

That said, the Gelid Tranquillo IS also a cooler I like. Cheapest by far too.

The CPU cooler was pretty simple to mount on the motherboard, with very clear instructions on how to mount the backplate and the cooler. It was very easy to do with very little effort needed on my part, which is a rare quality of CPU coolers. I'm using two Xigmatek 120mm fans on it due to personal preference. With the fans mounted, one of the fans does block my first RAM slot, so be warned. I guess I could move the fan up a bit to give extra clearance beneath but it is not needed anyway as I only have two sticks of RAM.

With the way your RAM is set up, will you be okay?

To be honest, I agree with this. My main concern is that at 158mm in height, it may not fit in the case.

The case spec says it can hold coolers upto 160mm... but does this take into account the 'foam insert' underneath the 120mm cut-out in the side panel??

But yes, U12P SE2 is my main preference.
