Apple TV iplayer and 4od?

Hello :)

I'm looking to fill the house with apple TVs to stream all our music and films around and I wanted to check its possible to get a iplayer and 4od app?

The mrs is very keen on this feature so I hope it's a yes :)

I would be buying new so I guess that's a third generation one?

If there is one without a jailbreak, I don't know of it.

we use our ipod touch/iphone/ipad and then airplay it to the atv... if there is a better way of doing this, I'm all ears !
 
Can do this on an Apple TV2 when its jailbroken (both iPlayer and 4OD) but not without it. Apple TV3 has yet to be jailbroken I beleive though someone may correct me on that, I haven't really looked. I know the latest Apple TV software can not be jailbroken.

Think it will be quite a while before a jailbreak is out too.
 
I'm amazed by this!! What are apple thinking to having simple apps like iplayer!!

So you saying I can still AirPlay to a apple tv 3 from iPad 1?

I didn't want to have to jailbreak as I can't be bothered to mess around with all that jaz.
 
Not as far as I'm aware..

Pretty sure its only the A5 chips that can do the mirroring.

In otherwords, not the Ipad 1.

You can airplay Audio, but not video.

And also, If I'm not mistaken, A lot of apps like iplayer and skyplayer stop running when you go to mirror them on airplay anyway.
 
The current ATV just came out a few months ago so there won't be an upgrade for a while (the third generation ATV has a smaller version of the new iPads A5X processor which is also in some of the newer new iPads if memory serves).

Well, having just tested this I can confirm its horlicks!

Iplayer, ipad1 AirPlays both pics and vids. AirPlay is not mirroring, and you can't mirror, but it can send the screen to the ATV.

To get iplayer working you have to double tap home key, and choose AirPlay (the app doesn't give you the option natively) but it works
