Analyzing the **** out of a book is bound to make you hate it. It doesn't mean it's a bad book. Wait until you forget everything you learned about it and give it another go, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Not always true.

I actually thought this was going to be about the book.

I did Gatsby and Paradise Lost (amongst others) as my A Level texts. Some of the books that are supposed to be quite good (Room with a View, Importance of Being Earnest, etc...) I didn't actually find that interesting.

Gatsby and Paradise Lost were absolutely Amazing though (IMO.) Analysing the **** out of them really made me actually read them proper and appreciate them...

If it's got Di Caprio in it this has potential... It will either be absolutely dire, or absolutely great. Will be interesting if they use as much colour symbolism as the book, because in the film they could really play it up, which could be interesting.

I'm thinking with Di Caprio it must be going at least partly along the right path...

Just watched the Trailer. It looks good. Music choice was interesting, but not bad. I'm kind of thinking, where the hell is the Jazz music? Also, it definitely seems like they've 'modernised' it. Which frankly, for this could be interpreted as 'sexualised' it. That opening party seem definitely seemed more sexual than the book put it...

I thought this would be an interesting remake....until I saw Baz Luhrmann's name.

Really don't like his stuff.

I studied The Great Gatsby for my A Levels, and loved the book.

I'll be looking forward to this, but 3d? I think I'll catch it in good old fashioned 2d.

I can't believe their choice of music for the trailer. WHAT!!!
Agreed on both points. I can't see what 3d will bring to a film like this. Music choice was really distracting and just didn't fit at all, here is hoping it's only for the trailer and not in the film itself. Trying to put current popluar music in to a period film just sounds naff and takes away from the feel of the film. They did this in decades past and when you watch the films back it really dates them.
