I know it's never gonna be an accurate milsim, but a tiny bit of realism wouldnt go amiss, shotguns that kill at 100 yards+. Theyre barely accurate at 35 yards.

haha in bfbc2 my mate used to shoot me from 3 islands away with a shotgun :D

yet 50 yards is about what youd expect to drop anything really :p

one of my friends i game with messaged our lot today on website from afghanistan  he says dg im playing real bf :D

gunna stick some pics up when hes got his camera sorted

I shoot with shotguns regularly, ive used buckshot and slugs, theyre great up close, but anything over 35 yards and they fly all over the place.

Mate of mine was in afghanistan last year, (sniper in the irish guards), seen a few pics he took while over there. He loves his .338 lapua magnum L96 with a passion, ive shot with the 7.62mm version, an incredibly accurate rifle.

Chased Cleeeeeeeeeeecccooooo across the docks on Noshar Canals earlier, just to sheath my knife in his throat. Worth it :D

Also chased someone all the way along the rocks above the stormdrain when he came looking for me, only to get shot by one of his team mates before I could give him the same treatment. Bummer :(

That's the spirit!

This tbh, bf3 aint no Arma2 for sure, ballistics in it are terrible, shotguns and .44magnum pistols that kill at 50 yards +, even slug rounds in reality are the most woefully inaccurate round, in bf3 theyre super accurate. I think dice employed action man as a weapons adviser.:D

300m for a sabot slug according to Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotgun_slug

Besides, I'm pretty sure that all weapons are easier to aim / fire in BF3 than real life.

wiki who shoots a shotty at over 50 yards ?

not many

A modern slug shotgun, with rifled barrel and high performance saboted slugs, is the top choice for hunters who must hunt with a shotgun, as it provides rifle-like power and accuracy at ranges over 150 yards (140 m)

A shotgun in the right hands is lethal. As already pointed out though, shooting a weapon in BF3 has no basis in real life. FPS shooting is easy.

but.... how many actually shoot that distance :)

like said most people will shoot 50-70 yards max

bf shotties are like sniper rifles :D

i agree, and surely even if shotties do shoot that far they would suffer bullet drop! not fair that you have to compensate with a sniper rifle but not a shotgun. sadly this is nothing new and was used by noobs in BFBC2 - another thing that was just simple not addressed

Heisenberg? Whoever you are on here, I thank you. You made me laugh so much yesterday it was unreal.

c4 sneak attack was in full force.

Are we playing the same game?

I use the 870 a lot and I really don't see where comments like "bf shotties are like sniper rifles" are coming from. In BC2 sure, they were absolutely ridiculous, but at range, even using slug rounds I find them pretty much impotent at long range - so much so that I will usually be better with a pistol in some cases. Sure, I get the occasional long range kill, but usually only with a lucky headshot or on an injured opponent.

I see the frustration but having shot slug rounds IRL they are very accurate at those kinds of ranges in a rifled barrel.

The game makes no distinction though. A smoothbore slug configuration would be pretty terrible for overall accuracy but a rifled slug barrel in a 'shotgun' is effectively a rifle.

BC2 has literally no bullet drop on slug rounds but there is at least drop in BF3, slug or not.
