3x Samsung monitors, AMD or Nvidia?

Hi,

I have a Samsung S27A950D and 2x S27A750D's and I was wondering, to get all three working properly in 3D, would AMD or nvidia be best?

I'm thinking AMD would be best due to tridef support, but would nvidia 3D vision hack work at all on all 3 monitors?

I don't plan on doing massive amounts of 3D gaming, but it'd be nice every now and then, especially on three screens!

See this:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-surround-technology.html
http://3dradar.techradar.com/3d-tech/sapphire-shows-3d-gaming-multiple-monitors-25-06-2010

So, it seems to be doable on both AMD/nVidia plataforms, but I wouldn't bother to try it..
3D are in diapers, despite all the publicity expanded across the web.. Buggy drivers, the dependency on third-party drivers, only a few games available that uses that kind of technology, won't make it easy..

Besides, you want to do it in 3 displays, which happens to be not that common as with only one 3D display.. :)

Anyways, my advice, if you want/have the time to spare, just read a lot on any 3D forums out there and see if it worth the headache it will probably be.. ;)

Best regards.. :)

Is that an actual headache or is it just problematic to get running?
When it's enabled with an Nvidia card, that's it, games just render in 3D, there's no real issue to setting it up.
Tridef is a little annoying with Steam etc, and has some limitations with games etc.

Eemm, I guess because it's problematic to get running, then you have your headache trying to figure it out why????... ;)

Jokes aside, the problem with 3D is that not all the games are right coded for that technology, despite what nVidia/AMD claims..
Here is a review, very nice developed:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/tridef-stereoscopic-3d-gaming,3019.html

Here one of the conclusions:
"In general, Nvidia’s solution is simpler to use, but sometimes requires in-game settings to be compromised to minimize artifacts. On the other hand, TriDef Ignition is often capable of doing its job with in-game effects left on. However, it requires more tweaking to tune. When that happens, you'll find yourself messing with the launcher and settings, sometimes shifting down to DirectX 9 for compatibility reasons."

So, yeah, nobody is saying that will not work, just that had to be tunned for every single game you will play.. So, there's the headache.. Tes and fail.. ;)

Best regards... :)

My question was slightly tongue in cheek but watching 3D is not unknown for giving people an actual headache.

Then I apologize if any of my words were rude.. I'm not used to english jokes, is not my natural language.. :(

So, sorry, and sorry for future headaches I'll give you all here in the forum with my words... :D

Best regards.. :)

Very few people seem to get actual headaches with 3D Vision - prolly about 1 in 10 that have used my kit have had a problem with it in that regard if that.

However I can't really reccomend it (or any other current form of it) far too many games you have to sacrifice a lot of visual effects to get the depth rendered correctly and imo its too much of a tade off when your losing things like dynamic shadows etc. in some games. Granted there is the odd game where it all just works and its amazing but even then I doubt you will spend much time using it. Even in games it works fine visually they are generally more effort to play in 3D Vision mode it feels a bit more restrictive you just can't react to stuff as efficently as you can in normal 2D.

I bought my kit in April 2009 IIRC and haven't used it in the last 2 years.

Synmaster S23A700D and 3d vision

Cleeecooo,

Maybe if I get a reply to below it could help us both.

I`m a bit of a novice when it comes to 3d,so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I`ll start with my basic setup first -

Asus rampage extreme vi mother board.
Intel Core i7 3820 Quad Core CPU (3.60GHz, 10MB Cache, Socket 2011, 130W, Sandy Bridge)not overclocked - YET!
Patriot Viper Xtreme Division 4 Series 1866MHz 32GB Quad Channel Memory Kit
Nvidia GTX 690
surround tripple Samsung 3d Synmaster S23A700D 120hz monitors.

Ok Ive been having problems getting both Tridef that came with the monitors and 3d vision that I would prefare.
Basically I`m obviously doing somthing wrong.
Was hoping somone could give me directions to get both 3d vision and tridef working.
1) Regarding the 3d vision I get the test screen but glasses not working.Does this mean I only need the 3d vision emulator?

2)With tridef i get the glasses working but only see double screens throgh the glasses??

3)I can get the monitors built in 2d-3d working by selecting on monitors thats about it.
Please if someone can help with the settings or walk through`s I would really apreciate it as this is driving me nut`s.

By the way the GTX 690 is out this world.had doubts at first due to price but glad i took the plunge. All games especially BF3 in surround run fabulously in ultra settings in surround on all monitors..

Thank`s ;)

Jonop, your issue is not related at all to the OP's question. Your problem is trying to get 3D working.. The OP wants opinions on people using 3 monitors with NVIDIA and/or ATI graphics cards..

You should make your own thread with your problems rather than hi-jacking someone elses thread..

Jonop, as said, you're question is a little different, I'd suggest starting a new thread where others can help you :)

Thanks for al the replies, I've ordered 7970's, I'll get back to you guys

Some people have different definitions of 'harsh'..

Sorry buddy if you took it the wrong way - no harm intended. ;)

Quick update for you guys, The 7970 is much more user friendly once you have multi monitors set up.

Let me show you:

If you look at the presets, it basically means that I can easily switch to extended display when I want to work (three screens behave somewhat individually) and when I want to start gaming, I switch eyefinity which means that its one long display.

When using nvidia drivers, I found no such features and had to keep reconfiguring everything. It as a real PITA. That being said, getting started with AMD takes a lot longer (for me anyway :p)
