Looking at getting an '03-'05 plate CRV 2.0 Auto. Looking for any owners views on running one, and/or things to look out for when viewing.

Going to see one tomorrow, wanted to make sure i go as well informed as i can.

Is that the facelift of the original? We had one in the family for a time, it was quite utilitarian inside, in a good way though dogs and stuff could be chucked in with minimal cleaning required. Im sure the seats pulled forward too to help with rear load space. The haldex type 4wd was quite decent too, the car never really struggled when taken into muddy fields etc (though it would be far too low for actual off road). It was slow and thirsty, you dont buy aomething like this for economy though and it was a decent car

That's it, the facelift one. We're guessing real world mpg of about 30, which for our mileage isn't the end of the world.

It was either a CRV or Rav4, neither of which would ever be a 'real' 4wd, but more than enough for our needs. I prefer the interior of the Rav, but the CRV seems a better prospect.

I could only get 25, but it seemed to do that regardless of the abuse I gave it....so it got abused. They aren't my thing but it was a pretty good all rounder, we had an issue with the diff at the rear but just replaced the seals and all was well

Dead easy to service too, no real need to even jack it up

Not in your wildest dreams, expect a real world of low 20's, very thirsty car.

Sadly I speak from experience :(

We have owned an 03 and now we have an 08. We live in a rural area so our mpg isn't too bad at about 30 - 31. Driving around towns/cities stop and starting all the time we get about 25.

Both of our CR-V's have been great, very reliable with no problems at all.

Well, that rules out CRVs with a sunroof, head bumped the roof:D got to find another now, minus the sunroof, see if i fit any better!

No sunroof on our 08 but our 03 had one. Bit puzzled over this... maybe I am just used to it.

I am going out today so I will take a good look and see.

My dad had a pre-facelift and then a face lifted one, cant remember a single problem with either. He's since moved on to a Jazz Sport, impressive amount of space inside and much better mpg.

Edit: I seem to remember the nav on the facelift CRV was a bit naff, I wouldn't bother paying extra for it.

Ok no problems with the seat right down, I still had almost 3 inches head space. I also checked with the seat right up to it's highest point and still had nearly an inch of space.

I can't recall having a problem with the 03 either.
