Looking at your garden it would seem that you want to buy a chainsaw because you just want to have one.

Be far better & cheaper to either rent one or get somebody to do a proper job.

Back breaking work grubbing out stumps & roots by hand,mainly large firs, done 18, one still to remove in the new garden.

Couldn't get a stump grinder in the garden due to poor access.:(

small update chaps


ended up just buying a ryobi one out of the big diy place for quickness,

and i still have all fingers/toes/testicles after several hours use.

now i need to get rid of all the trees/bushes/etc

Your local dump should have a place to take garden waste, I'd suggest that as more sensible and economical than buying a shredder for the purposes. Although if you've now got lots of logs you might find simply advertising on Gumtree or something will have someone willing to come and take them off your hands - if you're very lucky they might give you some beer money assuming you've chainsawed them into reasonable chunks.

My first thought was that this was a rather extreme reaction to your thread about your wifes boss but I see you started it before that - good thinking there for when an alibi is needed. ;)
 
Some people want the extra sun? Or get fed up tidying up the leaves. Or they're destroying their fences?

attacked my front hedge with it this afternoon :)

epic man points to be had, neighbour is pruning his hedge with an electric hedge cutter, pffft i attack mine with a petrol chainsaw :) front hedge is now at a reasonable height(ie 4 feet high rather than 7 feet but i still have a lot of hedges trees and general bushy **** to dispose of.

council will take it but i estimate at least 10 van loads of the ruddy stuff. so option is either hire a van and spend all day getting grief of the staff at the recycing centre about where its all coming from, or buy/hire a shredder/chipper and get some free wood chippings for the bottom of the garden

if you want :) i've also got a cement mixer if you want to have a shot at laying a base for my garden shed too :)

Not what you would call safe practice with a chainsaw.

I would have advised you to get a electric saw purely because it doesn't make as much noise, for the sake of your neighbours.
 
that has to be the coolest thing you could ever have the pleasure of driving/piloting
