*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

It was good fun last night even thought not everything went as planned :)

Our clan dominated, apart from when Hind came with his lava sneak attack and owned us all! Can't wait to play more with proper "Hardcore" mode and probably less of building a fort and more of actually hiding in a corner hoping not to die of starvation.

Was good, but not as good as I'm hoping it will be once we have no regen of health. Within 10 mins I cam across LukeD who legged it after I attacked him (thanks for the apples), and then Hindrance who also legged it when I said hello with my sword. He kindly left me with his crafting table and plenty of iron ore to mine :).

Not sure on the map size, but was it a little bit too big? After seeing 2 people in 10 mins, I spent about an hour running from one side of it to the other and then back across, and saw no one else and only 1 small indication that someone had been there. I know most people will probably be underground, but it will be a very slow game if it's a big map and people don't have to continually look over their shoulder. The fact that you may bump into someone at any time will make it quite tense, and I'd rather have 2 shorter quicker games, than 1 long 3 hour game. Just my thoughts.

Can I ask what people's strategies were last night? I know with the health regen there wasn't as much risk exploring, but what were poeple's plans once the game started? After the initial collection of wood, I made a point of getting coal and then making a small hidden house near caves as a means of iron mining for weapons and armour. Then I went out hunting for humans!

It was good fun last night. I think it will be even better when the world boundaries and the rest of the settings are set up.

I ended up dying about five times; So I think when permadeath is on it will make me a little more intense.

Though I did get one cracking kill, I tracked Trix through a forest for several minutes, it came to an opening where she was killing a cow; So I sprinted, back stabbed and got some nice lootz. :)

Again this weekend?

A few issues Maxi, the link to the Day carto is pointing to the Cave one, correct link here: http://zoom.it/Zh31. The Cave carto is an old one dated from 14/5/12, correct link here: http://zoom.it/1lu7.

The Nether and the End carto's are in the cave setting, since these are quite small files they could probably be redone quicly if needed.

Whoops, sorry been busy at work so only did them quickly this morning when it was quiet.

Glad to see you are still keeping track on me though! Thanks :D

I just watched the YogCast vid of the survival map, it's great. Love the ending when he hears the ssssssss of the creeper! :D

Interesting map, but seems like the 'skill' part will be knowing where all the good chests are hidden.

I think it looks fantastic, and love the idea of it being real survival - you only get what you find, and if you're lucky you'll get a weapon. Would certainly make it more interesting that a normal map where people just tunnel away until they find diamonds to make weapons and armour. Definiately still want to play a normal map, but this looks great fun too.

Yeah, like I say it's an interesting map. It would be even better if there was a mod or something that went with it and randomised the chest items and/or chest locations.

Yeh indeed Maxi xD the lava bucket i stole from your chest that i mined under ; P

- sorry about the config again! i'l get testing tonight if all goes to plan although i have my last exam tomorrow.
re map size - I know it did seem a little big, this is something that we can only work out after a few matches, especially once the random spawning situation (and removing /spawn) is sorted out.
-That map does look funky : P I'm sure we could easily sort it out!
-Sure that would be awesome! I'll be on around 8 or 9, got a fair bit of work to do before i can chill tonight

FTP details sent to you guys.

Also, FYI... I've got Tekkit with Mo Creatures running on a test server. I'll continue playing with it and hopefully get it online to ask players to help test with later.

Oh yeah..I've increased the difficulty setting in the hardcore server - noticed it was set to 1, which probably was the source of your heart regen issues. Sorry about that.

Mod Server Test

If anyone has a bit of spare time can they please pop on to the mod server I have stuck up. It is running Tekkit with a small selection of our normal server mods (whitelist, lockette) and Industrial Craft, Redstone Power, Mo' Creatures, Air Baloons and a few others (mostly included with Tekkit). I have had to remove wireless redstone though.

There will be a streamlined process for getting onto the server when/if it is launched properly but for now it requires some messing around...

In order to play on the server you will need to install the Technic Launcher:

http://www.technicpack.net/launcher/

Once this has done, sign in and select Tekkit (NOT Technic) and run through the update/launch process. Make sure you click on options and select to use the latest Tekkit build - by default it will use an older build for MC 1.1.x, which isn't what we want.

After this is done, close down Minecraft as you need to install some extra mods.

Download the mods from here:

http://linktart.co.uk/_files_/minecraft/extra_mods.zip

Extract the .zip file on your desktop and you should have 5 new zip files. Delete extra_mods.zip after this.

Navigate to: C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\.techniclauncher\tekkit\mods

Move the 5 zip files you extracted to this folder.

Now re-open the Tekkit Launcher from earlier. Once you've got Minecraft running, add a new multiplayer server with the IP: linktart.co.uk:35565

Connect and play :)

0 = peaceful
1 = easy
2 = normal
3 = hard

I just went on now and it's set to normal. So either its wrong or it's not restarted yet.

I set it to hard earlier. I thought I restarted it tbh...I'll do so now if not.

edit: double-checked and restarted. If it is still doing it now then there's a bug that I need to find.
