Real world Toyota 1.8 VVT-I mpg?

It wasn't pleasant I must admit. Prefer the big oil burner. Thanks for all responses. I think I'll be sticking with what I have now.

Assuming the 1.8 VVT-I gets 38, same as the oil burner I'm only saving £120 quid over my planner 18000 miles/pa. I'm missing another 4 year warranty though (and the 2.2 does have a reputation for blowing head gaskets).

Why are people on about the Yaris and Celica using the same engine??

The engine used in the petrol 1.8L 3rd gen Avensis is the 3ZR-FAE, so its a completely different family to the ZZ series (Celica/MR2). Granted, the Yaris engine (2ZR-FE) is from the same family as the Avensis one, but the Avensis one has Vavlematic so it'll be more economical. How much more I don't know, I must admit, but surely there'd be disscusions online in owner forums and so on regarding the economy of the 1.8 Avensis?

Can people put VAG in capital letters please? In lower case it makes me think of something else. :o

Or just bin the obsession with it - it doesnt even make sense in this thread as he drives a Toyota?!

Why did 'I have a VW' or 'I have a Seat' suddenly become 'Yea, I have a VAG'
