Derby fire deaths: Parents arrested on suspicion of murder

I'd say his intent was to only start a small fire to make the council move him to a new (bigger) house, and it went very wrong.

If that's the case it wouldn't be murder. It would be involuntary manslaughter, I think?

I may be making this up, but I thought to be questioned formally they would have to be arrested. Doesn't mean they will end up being charged. Pretty sickening case, all the worse if it does turn out to be the parents.

Can't watch the video with sound at work, but you're correct in that they are placed under arrest in order to be formally interviewed/questioned.

What's the vid all about? Is it something new?

If it does turn out to have been by their own plotting, it would be absolutely mind-blowing, tbh. Who on Earth puts their kids in that kind of danger for any reason?

On an estate I used to live there was a fat women and two black kids, she kept on going on about wanting a HOUSE and her kids deserved better than a council flat. A month later, FLAT FIRE and she now has a house. Makes you wonder!

If it is proven that they did do it (for whatever weird reason) - I hope they get all they deserve.

I actually thought there was something a bit strange about the guy when he was giving the Interviews the day after the incident happened. It was as though his grief/emotion wasn't just the despair I assume a parent would feel when he/she has lost a child so terribly (or in this case a lot of children at once) - but more like WTF did I do that for/I didn't mean that to happen.

nah. if you set fire to a house with people in it. you know it might end in deaths. man-slaughter is like hitting someone and them falling badly and killing them. i.e. things that wouldnt normally kill someone.

it will be life. i knew a guy (bit mental) who was an arsonist and tried to light a letterbox. cops saw him and he got life.
