Hi all, just a quick question. I've got some Yamaha HS80M's at home which I use for production. But ever since I got them i've only ever used one of them as I can't physically fit both of them on my desk.

Will this have any detrimental effects as obviously only one speaker is being used and the other is just sat in my cupboard collecting dust waiting until I move out.

Should I swap them around?

really? producing in mono? what about stereo image? no offence but that would kill music for me. stereo imaging is half of production. having that nice flow between L & R and placing instruments and FX in the stereo image.

cant you mount both on a wall? no offence but producing in mono will sound awful.

Isn't it worse than mono, i.e. only half of a stereo pair rather than both channels through one speaker?

I think I know what I mean...

Yeah, you're right. Listen to Sgt. Pepper's with only one headphone in and it's pretty clearly different to downmixing it to mono and listening to that with just the one headphone.

Yes, using one channel is worse than mono. At least with mono, all the sound can be heard through one speaker. Trying to create stereo music, by only using left or right, is not going to turn out that well I would have thought.
