A new sub forum for game giveaways

There's quite a few games get given away on the forum now to maybe justify it's own sub forum. Some giveaways get bumped off the first page quite quickly so some members miss out on the chance to win.

Doesn't have to be restricted to games either, any PC hardware or software that members want to giveaway really.

Access could be restricted similarly to the that of the Members Market, so only active and contributing members benefit from the giveaways.

I don't massively like this for the same reasons that I don't like the idea of an indie sub forum - I think that it would just make the threads for each of those subjects get seen less.

Yeah I don't think this forum needs dividing any further, every giveaway thread I've seen seems to get almost three pages of replies in 10 mins.

+1.

You both worded it better than I could.

I wouldn't like to see giveaways moved to the MM. If a new sub forum isn't started then leaving giveaways in the PC Games section would be my preference.

Wouldn't another problem with restricting it to MM be that you need would need to have access even if you wanted to give games away?

I always thought the MM was more for buying and selling, not for giving away for free.

Not keen tbh. exchange of good should be limited and exclusive to the MM. it wouldn't be too long before the idea is abused then we have trading outside the MM.

You are of course able to use the MM for free giveaways :)

Give away Diablo 3 and I reckon the bumping problem would be eliminated :p As mentioned further up moving it to mm stops people who are new to the forums joining in but also stops them from giving as well. As no money is trading I don't see the issue with it staying where it is. Of course I will say that though as I have less than 1000 posts :)

I don't think it would be a good idea, while this forum is fairly fast moving they still get a lot of attention regardless and I feel it would be needlessly segregating the forum for threads which may not happen for weeks on end.

Don't think it's necessary to be honest - if you want, you could say the giveaway will "close" when a certain number of people have entered and then you randomly select a winner. That way you won't have a situation where only a small few enter :p
