So admittedly i've not been in the UK for almost two years so this may be quite common

What's this all about? pictures either side of your number plate?!?

In case it's a little hard to see it's a scarface number plate. I would have got a better picture but I was actually quite scared because the guys obviously a big deal and probably armed.

How sad.

Quite a few plates in Leicester have some kind of Islamic logo on them, seen them cropping up more recently.

In leicester its prob a Sikh logo.

Loads of tacky stuff goes on with plates, and I think the police just cant be bothered anymore.

I dont think the plate in the pic is legal -

"Motorists in England, Scotland and Wales have the option to display the Union Flag, Cross of St George, Cross of St Andrew (also known as the Saltire) or Red Dragon of Wales together with one of the following identifiers: GREAT BRITAIN, Great Britain, GB, UNITED KINGDOM, United Kingdom, UK, CYMRU, Cymru, CYM, Cym, ENGLAND, England, ENG, Eng, SCOTLAND, Scotland, SCO, Sco, WALES or Wales. This must be displayed on the left hand side of the number plate. No other symbols or flags can be displayed on number plates.

The flag must be positioned above the identifier and neither must be more than 50 millimetres wide or on the number plate margin.

Motorists displaying national flags and identifiers will still be required to display the standard GB sticker when travelling in Europe."

That said, I thought the europe 'flag' was also allowed ie: gold ring of stars on blue background, (like the silver BMW in the pic) but theres no mention of it above...

Or is that what they mean by union flag? european union, rather than union jack?

The Union Flag = the Union Jack, though I believe it's only technically correct to call it the Union Jack when mounted on a ship. However the term has now fallen into common usage and can be used either way.

yes because the islam symbol looks the sikhism symbol :rolleyes:

first ive seen of pictures on numberplates, seen car logos and the like, but not full on pictures :p

Plates should be completely plain with no lolgos, borders or colours other than being yellow at the back! Looks best that way too :)

mine has a st pirans flag on it, which annoyingly is illegal, but then so is the spacing

although I'm sure I'll get a tug for the spacing long before I do the tiny incorrect flag

Wind yer neck in son, The islamic symbol (whatever that is) is not really seen on plates, but the sikh symbol is used lots on flags, plates decals etc.

In no way did i criticise any of the religions mention so your rolleyes is a bit silly and pointless.
