We're all just micro-organisms on a massive rock, we're not different from the bacteria on a shoe, just that we're slightly bigger, but still insignificant on the grand scale of the universe, the human race likes to think it's important but we're really not, at least not until we master free, self-sustaining energy.

Wow, now I'm depressed.

The thought of the entire human race just becoming fossils/worm food makes me want to go and live a little instead of sitting behind a desk all day

No... You would be a moron to.

The whole idea stems simply from the fear of death and the human mind not being able to accept that there's an "end".

I can understand why so many want to believe in one... Fear... But to deny anything but that and you're kidding yourself.

I wish I had the capability to believe in something like that.... It would make life a bit easier to live and I may even be a better person for it.

You'd be a moron to think you know what happens to your body and spirit when you die. You cant prove it and nobody knows what happens, so to simply deny that there is an afterlife is stupid. You can have your own assumptions, but you don't know if they're right; its simply a belief you have.

No... You would be a moron to.

While I understand that people have a differing opinion on this, calling those that, for what ever reason, disagree with your stance morons is a little crass......unless you have specific proof that an Afterlife of some kind doesn't exist and all that we are simply disappears into oblivion.

I was always as a youth firmly in the No Afterlife camp, subsequent experiences however have left me questioning that position and looking for answers to the questions those experiences left me with....so while I am still sceptical, I have a more open attitude to such ideas these days.

While I may not Brain of Britain, I certainly wouldn't regard myself a moron for holding such a position.

ATTN: DONS: if we could add Undecided to the poll please...I don't think the question is a binary as the poll suggests. :)

I've never understood how so many people can realise they had no conciousness before they were born, but not accept their non-existence after they die.

I believe in manifest. That's where when you die, you'll manifest as someone else without any recollection of your previous life. Your manifest can't just stop like that. Nothing to look forwards to then!

It's the bloody god argument all over again... I don't know what to think, so let's pick the least likely and hope it happens.

Common sense, science and the entire ideas creation speak against it. That's why it's the logical conclusion (no belief necessary).

I would love it if I was wrong... But I strongly doubt it.

Your "spirit" is just a sequence of electrical impulses firing in a biological computer.

If there were such a thing... Would we not be expecting to meet every being that's ever existed in the afterlife?

So therell be dinosaurs... Rats.... Spiders... Cave men... Etc etc

... They/we are all the same, to raise ourselves above that is idiocy.

Well like most things which have no evidence... in fact lets go all the way here, there is no reason whatsoever to even consider they may be an afterlife let along have full on raging belief in it.

I hate this stance... Let's actively disprove an idea that was first conjured out of fear and a desire for manipulation.

Right... Don't bother using common sense.
