I was watching touch last night with my girlfriend and I wondered whether in 100 years, or 200 years, 300 years or whatever.

Obviously we can only go back 100 years or so at the moment but since the stuff back then is black and white and and pretty much just silent, you dont really get a feel for how life was like but in the modern generation there is so much documentary TV, good TV series and movies that other than higher definition and better 3d, there is not a lot more really that can be done to the medium.

Do you think people in a hundred or a couple of hundred years will enjoy a series of 24 or Desperate Housewives or will things shape TV in a way we cant imagine leaving it as irrelevant today as 100 year old films are to us?

Difficult one really.

I look at the 'recent' classics such as The Terminator, Terminator 2 etc and I struggle to see my children wanting to watch this films when they are in their teens let alone there grand childrens grand children.

I would expect to them it would be like me sitting down to watch old B&W stuff and enjoying it. Not very enjoyable.

I've also wondered this, especially with modern classics like TLOTR trilogy. It may just be that people won't be interested in the movies just because they are old and appear to "belong" to a previous generation. It's like I have no interest in classic films like Taxi Driver and The Godfather since they were made in the 70s. They are obviously good films, but there are have been so many other good films since then I don't need to go back that far to find a good film to watch.

I was wondering the same thing about modern day music to be honest. Will there be any great bands of this generation that are remembered for years to come?

They've run out of original plot lines already, imagine what it's going to be like in 100 years D:

If Dave is still running in 100 years, then people will easily be able to watch ancient TV episodes.
