Hi all - new build nearly ready to buy...

I'm opting for an Asus Sabretooth Z77 here:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-512-AS

I'm also opting for a Gainward GeForce GTX 680 Phantom here:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-154-GW

and also a Asus Xonar Essence ST Sound Card here:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SC-008-AS

The GeForce is apparently 2.5 slots wide. Now this won't be a problem initially but if I was to get another GTX 680 down the line for SLI - will there be a problem with real estate on the MB?

Thanks in advance :)

Stephen

Slap me if I'm being an idiot but is that Asus Xonar a standard PCI slot? The Z77 doesn't have any, just PCIexpress.

Hi,
Note that the mobo fan behind the pcie 1x slot makes the 1x slot impossible to use, i tried putting a titanium hd soundcard there and it would'nt fit into the 1x slot due to how high the little fan is, as i sli i had to get a 1x extension cable and adapter ;), could'nt take the fan off without taking the nh-d14 off, and having the sc inbetween the sli increases temps, best option for me is what you see in the pics, its a baddass way to locate a soundcard thats in the way ;).

PCI-E Express 1X Riser Card Ribbon Adapter Extender Extension Cable With Flex

NO COMPETITOR LINKS

It would be better if i could have found a cable like the above but with a right angled 1x pcie but i could'nt so i got this aswell
Lycom DT-107R PCI-E 1x 1Slot Right Angle Riser Card - A Dream for Rackmount Users

As you can see in teh pic i've encluded, it's a great way to move a pcie card to somewhere better.
I use the last pci mount as the other 2 are too close to sli cards and create a lot of uneeded heat, gives great space under card 2 :)
I'm using the black 4x pcie slot at the end of the mobo.

Hi, butmuncher, I would remove the 2 links before a mod see's as these would be classed as competitors ;)

Oc uk dont sell either of these items so i believe theres no competition;) but thanks for the headsup :).

Mods can remove links if they want but i find them informative to the thread.

Thanks for the pointer. I would have missed that for sure...

Would this setup work in a Corsair Obsidian 650D Midi?

Thanks again

But the second link does sell GPU'S, CPU'S ect which Overclockers also sell, its not just the specific item its more the whole shop

Ok, i can see what your saying, ocuk are scared of their competetors hence the reason your saying the second link is'nt allowed.

The fact is we all buy from different shops, if ocuk are scared then thats their problem, if mods remove the links then so be it but i'll not remove them, my words are information, i'm sure both shops have higher and lower prices.

Sorry but i hate it when people say remove this or that due to this reason, freedom of speech!

I do respect that the forum is directly tied to the shop but freedom of speech is'nt illegal, if what i say is wrong then the mods will remove what they please.
I use both shops and see no issue.

Its a case of letting members know, like you mention different shops have different prices but the forums are run by the Ocuk shop and cost nothing to the members.

I gave a head up, as if a mod see's, depends who's on may suspend the member.

Sometimes its safer to link the manufacturers product page.

Well as i am set in my ways i'll have take the outcome, i'll not be talking about this subject anymore, please leave it upto the mods to decide what todo, and if suspendings are common here then so be it, there are other shops i can use if i feel mistreated .
But then you are a forum member warning me of this and that for the sake of ocuk, i'm greatfull for that but i gopt my things from those [places and thats the story i told.

For me this is the end of teh conversation, it's petty.
In the future i will link to manufactuers sites

I came here and gave the info that was needed, if it needs editing so be it but to mention there might be a suspenion, what are the mods trying todo, push away their customers as if i get a supsend i'll not tolerate it.
