Did anybody else have this bad luck when using SteelSeries headsets?

Around a year ago (less than that actually) I bought a SteelSeeries Siberia v2. Great headset, but around Christmas time, the mic stopped working.

Ok fair enough, lets RMA it. Sent it over (was like 10 euros!!) and got another one back. Not bad.

2/3 days ago, I try to speak to friends on Skype, and my mic suddenly gives no response. I tried to connect it directly to the PC (removing the USB sound card), re-installing the driver and even trying it out on another PC. Nothing, it won't work.

So now, less than a year in, I have had 2 problems with the headset, ironically, both of them are the same.

I have no idea why this is happening. Its not like I throw it around. its always connected in the same PC, and it has a fixed place where it is stored. I mean, surely if it was tossed around, then the audio bit would be @#$%ed up (judging by how the headset is built. It must be a problem in the build of the headset.

#$%^ thing is, I will (probably) have to send it back, paying another 10 euro just for them to send me another one, and it getting @#$%ed in less than 6 months. Can I try and get them to give me delivery money back, or is it 100% not possible?

Anybody had any problems like mine?

Microphones are usually the first thing to fail on all gamer headsets. It's usually because of weak/bad wiring at the point of entry to the headset or on the in-line volume controller.

You know what can be causing the problem? I mean, can it be I pulled the cord too hard (?) or something of the sort? Also, is it something i can arroange, so i can avoid sending it back to them?

If you're using it normally and it fails then it's just badly made.

Had a set of TT esports and the mic stopped working in 4 four weeks from new, headsets in general seem unreliable because of the thin wiring that is used, my roccat kaves have had to be completely rewired due to them breaking at the point it enters the ear piece, I had to cut and solder every wire in there to which there are 14 of, a right pain to do as well, it's about time there was a solution to this as i'm quite sure it's common.

Can I claim something on shipping costs, or something of the sort? If it happened every 2 yeas, around the second time I would just not bother and get a new headset, but every 6 months is too much.
