The Queen's Diamond Jubilee

UK > all

Good to see Dorian Yates on there!

Don't give 2 hoots about the Jubilee. I'm working Sat, Sun, Mon and Tue for double bubble.

Anyway this celebration thing is all about London again.

I agree,I could not care less.

I wonder how much this has cost the country in terms of security and everything...again...total waste of money. :(

Less than the benefit we'll see in tourism I would imagine. Less than the benefit to the overwhelming majority of the country who enjoy the Jubilee celebrations.

^ Now add in the chavs, drunks, no respect, rich bankers, gang members, polish workers, terrorists, dictatorship government, rip off britain, overwhelming destruction of land via housing, list is growing i'm proud to be british(not)

Turn that frown upside down, grumpy guts. There's a good girl. ;)

Well at least we got a holiday out of it, so cheers Liz! The Royals do have their uses now and again ;)

Which is exactly why I don't mind the mob. I really had the best of both worlds today. People in my area (NW London) wouldn't and didn't bother making a rabble in the streets so it's was nice and quiet with just the sound of rain pattering outside. I got a long weekend out of it. The bobbing flag-wavers getting drenched along the Thames to see a few boats seems happy.

The way I see it my friend, it was win all around!

Why on earth anyone would want to come over to see this is beyond me,I just don't see the point in any of it,Or having a Queen..

Shove her in an council run old peoples home and be done with it i say.

I use this as an opportunity to laugh at people who support both the monarchy & equality - I try to get them to explain how it isn't a case of clear cognitive dissonance.

I don't ask that she is totally removed, just funding her/being a subject is made optional - 80% of the population could still donate a monthly payment to her, the rest can go on as citizens & have nothing to do with her.

But please - don't force this sycophantic obsession with a lecherous German family on me.

It does happen less often than Christmas, and do remember that the total amount spent by people on it won't be anything like the burden Christmas is... and finally it's culturally acceptable to not pay attention to the Jubilee, while ignoring Christmas is a bit more unusual.

My advice is just to enjoy it, and set aside any reservations about the monarchy during the Jubilee.

Jubilee / Christmas....

Christmas / Jubilee....

You seem a little confused. Queen <> Santa.
