Evening guys,

My 7970 arrived this morning and I want to have a play around with it once i get home from work at 9pm tonight.

Any hints or tips for over clocking this card? Ive also heard something about having to edit afterburner to increase the voltage?

Any help would be great as I cant wait to get home and see what it can do, I've been with an old gtx260 for ages now. :D

I use Sapphire Trixx, found it excellent, has the voltage control and also allows you to create custom fan profiles for each saved overclocking profile. Also it enables increases in clock speeds higher than catalyst control centre, although I haven't had the courage to go that high yet ! Good luck and have fun ! :)

Thought the voltages were locked for now on the 7970 DCUII cards? Well the latest revisions anyhow...

Unfortunatly The Asus DirectCUII 7970 cards recently are Voltage locked, All Retailers and Asus have incorrect information when they tout the GPU Tweak software and in actual fact you are buying a product not as described.

Mine Has DVI-D Problems but with a DVI_D to DP adapter it runs perfect and i can get 1125/1575 fine, The voltage seems to scale with the overclock mind you.

if i stick it at 950mhz it will drop the vcore to 1.030v and when its at 1125 it jumps to around 1.060v - 1.084v...

Tried trixx and voltage is still locked so i cant get the core clock any higher than 1125 and the memory clock to 6600 after that i think im going to need a little more voltage.

I will keep searching the internet and see if I can find anything.

You have the same build as Martin above, so until Asus pull their prverbial finger out, your voltage is locked.

Wouldn't be surprised if you could return it as falsely advertised.
Hello, we're Asus, and this GPU has the best VRM delivery ever, but we've locked it down.

Looking at the posts from other owners I would pack up the card and return it for one that is not crippled by voltage locks.
