Best bet is to stick with a normal 60HZ monitor, Your eye's can barely perceive 30FPS, and if you don't have one of the latest 6 series Nvidia or 7 series ATI cards you wont get anywhere close to 60 FPS in most modern games so you wont need 120HZ
Food for thought.

Save some money and get something else as well as a monitor. £300 on a monitor is ridiculous.
Erm going from 60hz to 120hz is huge, put a 60hz monitor next to a 120hz and you would see especially in racing/fps games.
60hz is absolutely horrible for me, i can set monitor to it and i will hate it instantly now.Wish there was 2560x1440 120hz panels i would pay £800 or so for one easy.
Why is £300 on a monitor ridiculous? may aswell have a good display that you will probably use for a long time with a good pc no? can understand if you were buying a low end/mid ranged pc then a standard 1080p monitor would be fine.

You ever used a 120hz monitor? big difference barely notice over 30fps, sorry but thats complete rubbish i get between 60-80fps on bf3 on high settings if it drops low on ultra to 40fps theres a massive difference.

The difference is not down to your eyes imo, It's the faster response time of the pixels, if that makes sense.
what would people recommend as a cheap 120hz monitor?

This thread of GraveYard's is interesting, Most people on here recommend picking an IPS monitor (well the people who know what they are talking about)
Most say 120HZ TN panels are washed out,
60HZ IPS is the way forward.
So you saying i do not know what i am talking about since i chose a 120hz TN panel? i had a HP LP2475w before this infact still have it but not setup at the moment and this is _a lot_ better for gaming, sure the colours/viewing angles are better on the HP however the colours aren't much better but viewing angles are though i sit infront ahead of screen anyway.(HP LP2475w was one of the best IPS panels and still is.)
Only thing is 120hz needs good gpu power to be truely beneficial.
Didn't even suggest that Sycho, Just that a lot of them know what they are talking about, When I don't
Doesn't make the world of difference to me, as long as its 1080p, clear and big then I don't care![]()
You better tell all manufacturers that make 120hz its pointless! Also i said when it drops to 40fps not that was max my point is even when it drops frames that are more than 30fps you notice the difference so your arguement is invalid.
