Computex 2012 - Yesterday we managed to sneak into the Nangang hall at Computex and what follows is first of the many exclusives we managed to find during the Day 0 setup of Computex.

We walked around the hall as everyone was busy setting up for the show and our first stop we walked into the MSI booth where on display was their upcoming NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 680 Lightning video card. It features some wicked MSI workmanship including an unlocked BIOS to disable everything, that is all the protections that hinder overclocking and allow you to go for your life. Things such as disabling Over Current Protection, disabling Active Phase Switching and an increased power range limit is included.

Not only that but the GTX 680 Lightning features a digital PWM controller along with what MSI calls an enhanced power design which allows for "2X power output for maximum OC potential".

A lot of this comes down to the amazing cooling that is featured on the 680 Lightning along with all of the quality parts and components that go onto MSI video cards such as this one. Enjoy the exclusive pictures above - in the image above you can see two of the video cards running in SLI to power a demo of an upcoming benchmark for Windows 8, but we cannot show you that until a little later.

So no mention of getting above the 1.175v mark? You could have a 500% power range limit and you'd still be limited by the voltage?

Guessing £550+ ? Aye will be a waste of time buying, if you cannot change the voltage, I doubt it will be anywhere as good as the GTX 580 version, but you never know...

Another pic they didn't include on the tweaktown page.

It doesn't mention getting above 1.175v per se, but it does mention being able to adjust it. That'll mean nothing if it can't be adjusted higher, so I'd take that to mean that it can be raised, otherwise why bother.

It's be interesting for sure.

And what's this "Windows 8 benchmark" they can't show yet? 3DMark 2012, The End Of The World Edition?

Nelly how are you getting 1350 Core on your 670? I've only managed to achieve 1215
Running fine here, it depends on my room temperature if it's really boiling it will crash at 1350, if it's a cool day it doesn't in Heaven 3.0.

I really need to look at getting a case that vents warm air out the side of the case I think, it work's fine even on a hot day if I take side of the case off.

MSI may as well show off what it can do, hopefully be more info within the next few days.

But As soon as I got like 1230Mhz on core I just crash on heaven reckon it's just a bad card - overclocking wise?
My original one did 1289Mhz max, I would say it's average.

To be realistic it woudn't of changed anything day to day gaming using my original card, I think most people just crave the best of the best at the end of the day hence me buying someone elses, saved one DSR.

I wish the Nvidia 6 series cards would clock just like the (GTX 580) 5 series, not keen on this offset rubbish.

Will have to wait for more info I suppose, if its like the 7970 lightning cooler though its going to be very effective and very quiet.

Adjustment doesn't mean it will pass 1.175v though, you can adjust voltage on all 670/680 cards you just can't push them past that capped mark...
