I consider this deserves its own thread, maybe some have been waiting to try this. must say I was surprised this is happening this quickly.

BioWare's Dr. Ray Muzyka took to the stage at E3 to announce plans for Star Wars: the Old Republic, their Star Wars MMORPG. He unveils plans to add more PvP warzones, more challenging group- and higher-level content (including a new version of hardcore mode), new companion characters, player-requested features, and more to the game over the coming year. He caps things off by announcing plans for limited free-to-play support, saying beginning in July, everyone will be able to play the game up to level 15 for free.

If I recall correctly, WoW didn't go F2P until last year *shrug* i dont think this is a contest with WoW maybe its just the state of the world these days. However, there can be no doubt that SWTOR has been having it rough recently. Maybe theyve got something up their sleeves which will tempt players back.

It's never a good sign when a game with the supposed budget of SWTOR started doing weekend passes and now F2P for 15 levels this early in it's life.

The game bored me, drip feeding me generic quests in the most boring locales imagineable.

I despised dromund kaas, then balmorra was even worse.

The worlds are too big, the servers underpopulated and the missions are tedious and all identical. Can't express enough just how disappointed I have been with SWTOR.

1st it'll be limited, 4-5 months later (if not earlier) it would have gone fully F2P with Premium elements built in.

Sounds like the first step towards full FTP, although this sounds more like a demo tbh. Not surprising, it was a very limited game that didn't live up to the hype (the flashpoints were fantastic though). Then again, not to say I told you so, but I did say this right at the start of the beta and everyone flamed me out of the thread.

What we all really wanted was KOTOR3.

What we got was a rip-off dressed in a Star Wars suit.

£59.99 on origin at my last check.

To be honest, it's trying to get more people back on it as everyone who didn't get the greatest game ever made ragequit, and they're trying to tempt them back as the game's finally what it should have been at launch.

I can remember mentioning SWToR would be going F2P in the main thread and I got hung drawn and quartered for daring to suggest it !! :p

Its not going free to play though. Its just a trial really, its not being funded by microtransactions, your still having to buy the game if you want to play it past 15.

So have they fixed all the bugs in the operations and fp's now?
There were all very, very frustrating and the main reason my guild split.
Then there was the shockingly bad pvp system, has that changed yet?

Not quite sure about PVP, but a huge amount of bugs have been fixed, and PVP has been balanced and fixed more aswell, but PVP isn't perfect and can be better still, as it is with most mmos. Going to start a new character on it soon so I can report back to you on this if you want.

Too late. We all know what SWTOR is now and I doubt very many would want, or feel the need to go back. It was a very static and bland WoW style MMO, which felt old hat even on release.

That said, I paid my money and felt I got enough enterainment out it over the first six weeks, but the buggy and feature-lite product left an awful lot to be desired. I'm hoping the community is getting less tolerant of 'shove out the door' beta state releases.

Just cancelled my subscription after the initial 30 days, what a waste of time, no social the auction houses sucked and frankly the game blew.

the chatty quest conversations annoyed the hell out of me too.
