Al-Qaeda's second-in-command killed by drone strike

I especially like the fact that a second group turned up to meet their demise the same way, the guy at the controls must have rubbed his hands together when he saw the Toyota pickup rolling on to screen :D

If I paid 2p for that opinion I'd want a refund.

Well if we rid ourselves of some of the stupid parts of it, hes right, it is impossible that any group would not align itself with a nation, even if its only for little support.

The Mujahideen used to be a US backed militant group, then Osama came along and used the new found hate for the US, due to just leaving the group out in the cold after the Soviets gave up, (technically it was CIA op, but one cannot dissociate such things in a representative democracy, else people live in denial...which they do anyway) so by proxy the Saudi's started to support the newly named Al-Qaeda (to be honest ive always thought the name originated from a CIA person, but that's not relevant), by proxy again the US supported Al-Qaeda through their "aid" given to Saudi Arabia, for being a stable oil partner.

I swear the Middle-east and the US (CIA whatever), just turns my head into a nuclear explosion, its just not even worth bothering with.

The only basic thing is that even if we some how secretly support the very groups we fight, i would care very little, since only a stupid person would care in such circumstance, having a linear mind as such does these things.

It is perhaps a tad arrogant, but I really just do not care any more about politics on the global scale, it all seems rather pointless in the end, especially since everything is covered in doublespeak, PR moves to clean up the odd faux pas, it may have been important decades ago when the internet or faster travel was limited or non-existent...but most problems nowadays seem...artificially created and dispersed by people who would not know any better.

/Rant, current civilisation is simply a mess.

no government can be trusted.

There's no terrorism but state terrorism.

If Al-Qaeida and the like was real - they would have had the perfect opportunity to show themselves on Saturday - Thames river. And the houses of Parliament would have been blown up yonks ago if there was real terrorists.

9/11 and 7/7 - all lies. Just mass media mind control.

Just my 2p. :p

you being serious ?

Pakistani harboring Terroists, who would have thunk it, raze the place, scary thinking they they have nukes and are so pally with Mr Jihad

Has Pakistan given the US permission to launch strikes into its territory?

It's barely even a state anyway, I mean, they handed over the swat valley to the Taliban and said, there you go... run that part of the country if you want

If you asked the Taliban to run a bath they'd probably drown a school girl in it.

There are no rules in the game anymore for when your enemy doesn't play by them it's pointless trying to play by them. May not sit well or be playing by the rules we try to uphold and it might be seen as a reason why nations hate but that is simplistic and wrong. Find a target of opportunity, take it out, if people get annoyed tough, games changed. The rules are not the rules anymore.

Pakistan is the next big problem, they knew dam well osama was there and now they have punished the guy who ratted on him and have shut borders to exiting nato forces.

doubt many people care, while they harbour and cover for terrorists one minute and then pretned to be fighting them the next no one is going to involve them in decisions or be interested in what they think

And on a more serious note... Did the US tell Pakistan it was going to do this or is it another situation where the US wonders why Pakistan reacts angrily...? You know, another country killing citizens within Pakistan's own borders... I guess it wasn't soldiers this time so that's a plus.

Oh yes very good - we'll politely tell Pakistan and give them 1 months notice that we will kill a most-wanted terrorist who we have found in their country. Giving them PLENTY of time to warn the terrorist so he can hide somewhere else.

It's the same reason they didn't tell Pakistan about the Osama Bin Laden raid - they have corrupt officials (who knows how many) who would tell Al-Qaeda about the strikes (this has happened before btw). Osama was saved by corrupt Pakistan officials giving away a strike plan to Al-Qaeda.

So, we will go in there and kill them because Pakistan bloody certainly won't.

The only bit of any of the above that has even a tiny bit of legitimacy in it is te bit about no terrorist attacks on things like street parties and large scale gatherings. Surely it's not that hard!:p

London had a ring of steel from the police and military with the security services on overwatch for the Jubilee. The Commons and Lords are tight with armed security again with the security services providing any intel on threats etc.

How easy do you think it is ?
