Stella Shandy Argument

It's still 5% volume. All you are doing is drinking half a pint instead of a full one. Whether or not your drinking 2 cans of stella or 4 pints of shandy, you are still consuming the same alcohol volume.

It's the same principle as when I order a pizza from PizzaHut, I tell them to cut it into quarters. That way I only have four slices of pizza, the maximum allowed under my diet.

It's hard enough being from Sunderland on here, I feel it's just got harder :(

Maybe the 6 pints of Shandy have actually gone to his head?

The stella is still 5%. The shandy drink he is making is 2.5% by volume, but he's drinking twice as much of it.

Lol, reminds me of the classic joke.

A blonde is asked if she wants her pizza cut into 4 pieces or 8 pieces. She says "4 pieces, I couldn't possibly eat 8 pieces!"

Yeah but if you drink say 3 cans then you are over the limit to drive. If you drink 3 cans (6 pints) of shandy then is it safe to drive? Even though you feel 100% sober.

Given that you've had some... I now propose that it's bleeding obvious it's affected your judgement.

Here's some logic... since alcohol is a downer, you need to balance it out with an upper. Do 3 lines of coke to balance out the stella. Oh wait no, do 6 half lines since it was split - actually you'll find you're totally sorted because 6 half lines will have a lesser effect. You'll be bi-winning.

I refuse to believe you thought you were drinking less alcohol because you were drinking more of something else. It just does not compute captain!!!

Of course it has, he's drinking bloody Shandy Goddamnit!

Now, it raises the important question. Just what do we do with a shandy drinking "northerner"? I'd suggest we:

a.) Deport him to the south were he belongs.
b.) Beat him to death with a cobblestone in a sock.
or
c.) Boil him in a vat of gravy.

I must be going nuts in my old age and i guess i've lost the argument with the missus

Strange how 3 cans can make you giddy and over the limit, but 3 cans in a shandy keep you sober as a judge yet still over the limit too.

Taxi for Albert ......

You could make him wear more than a t shirt outside in winter so he boils to death, eat black pudding till he explodes, tie a rope to each limb and attach a whippet to each rope then pull him apart, damn it I've run out of clichés.

You have the exact same blood alcohol level either way so you are absolutely as 'drunk' as far as that goes.

It might have taken you longer to drink six pints, you might have done twice as many wees, but you've still taken in the same amount.

And you're still borderline retarded.

Well presumably you'd drink it slower so the effect would be more spread out. Hence you might not feel as drunk. But yeah, you're still drinking 3 cans of stella.

Stella is 4.8% now :(

Really?! I remember when Stella was 5.2% then I was aware of it being nerfed to 5.0%. Didn't know it's dropped even further. Is this the gov't sticking its oar into the brewing industry? I've noticed that Guiness has dropped from 5.0% to 4.1% and most alcopops have dropped too. I can understand the alcopops though because it having an appeal to kids, but I don't get why beers are dropping. What's next - wine dropping to 8%? Whiskey dropping to 20% lol.
