I have some bits already, ive not really kept up with what to get or go for.

I currently have an i5 750, 8gb ram, which will be converting into my work pc, I have a few bits already, a new 670GTX and 256gb SSD, 27" monitor, keyboard and mouse.

I need recommended combo for the following.

1. Motherboard
2. Cooler (quiet as possible).
3. Memory to suit motherboard
4. Storage (1-2tb)
5. Case
6. PSU.

Budget - If I could get all that for around 600 - ideally intel, ive not followed AMD for years so I have no idea.

Id also like to overclock, I guess as far as is reasonably possible, my i5 was an overclockers bundle which hit 4ghz, so If I can get near to 5ghz, id be delighted.

Unless I'm mistaken the op has already got a cpu that they wish to reuse, though not sure you'll have much success at hitting 5GHz stable.

Total : £597.89 (includes shipping : FREE).

Z77 mobo capable of Xfire or SLI and OC'ing the ivybridge CPU. Also has lucid MVP, this uses the IGP to help boost the GPU performance and of course there is quicksync which uses the IGP to speed up video encoding.

PSU is a great offer, 700W should just cover SLI of the 670 if you wanted to. I've used the 600W unit and they are very quiet, modular cables means fewer cables in the case impeding airflow.....better airflow equals lower temps :)

Case might seem budget but you get 4 120mm fans, fan controller with digital temp display and cable management. No USB 3 ports on the front but you could add a card reader with a USB3 port for £10ish. If you don't want/need SLI there are cheaper mobos without it so you could pump more cash into the case budget.

8GB of low profile RAM and a 2TB eco drive to keep power consumption down. The heatsink is rather large but excellent at cooling and near silent. That said I've used cheaper heatsinks like the gelid tranquillo and I wouldn't call them exactly loud.

Hope this helps, any questions feel free to ask......don't forget your free P&P :)

Thanks, dont need SLI, Ive just gone away from 2 x 6950's back to a single 670 and it seems to be up to the job of the res i run at.

Whats the easiest board to overclock?

I also thought Ivybridge didnt really offer anything over sandybridge?

Im guessing the gigabyte one. I have a gigabyte board myself and even though it has an old fashion look BIOS it is easy to OC.

Ivybridge offers around 5%-10% overall performance over Sandybridge, though it doesn't OC as high. Say you can reach 5Ghz with a 2500k, with a 3570k the max is around 4.5Ghz.

Im sure Ivy has a few new features too, buying new Ivy is the way to go, though its not worth upgrading from Sandy.
