E3 2012 - June 5th to 7th

Just watched the Ubisoft conference. Watch_dogs looks incredible. I think the closest thing we have to it is Deus EX. What do you guys think?

Yeah the Deus Ex influence is clear, seems a bit closer to present times though. It looks like a brilliant concept if they can pull it off, especially with the potential co-op at the end :)

I think it's probably good that this E3 has been a little disappointing... Surely that means that developers are starting to slow down development for current gen hardware - perhaps putting more focus onto next gen now :)

In other words - Next years E3 is set to be awesome :D

Information of no information haha! :D

No surprise it would be an IBM CPU and AMD CPU to retain backwards compatibility with Wii games.

How many GameCube's ducted taped will the Wii-U be this time? The Wii itself was like 1.5 or 2 of them. :p

Saying it supports 1080p tells us absolutely nothing about its power unfortunately. The 360 and PS3 both 'support' 1080p, but only in the less graphically intensive games (2D platformers etc) do we actually get it. Most of the time we don't get anywhere close to it.

I expect Wii U to be a touch more powerful than the 360, nothing too significant though. Games will look about as good as they do currently, with perhaps slightly better framerates at a little highler resolution.

So yeah, a spec sheet without the specs. :D

In other news, Square-Enix's new Lumious engine looks mighty impressive. You can definitely still see the aliasing in it, but the "real-time" demo they have is almost close to their CGI efforts.

And Middle Eastern fighters with AK-47 type guns mixed with Final Fantasy magic............way too surreal. :p

Final Fantasy real-time tech demo offers glimpse at next-gen

I read in the comment of that article that it wll have 1.5gb of ram in retail form?

TBH, Nintendo are good at getting a lot of of their console, I would expect it to look very decent even if spec wise its only a little ahead of current gen.

There's no way the Wii U will be a touch more powerful than the Xbox 360.
The Xbox 360 is 7 years old, to even build something with spec that low is insane.
Take the PS Vita, it's running ARM based stuff with the same type of CPU as the Galaxy SIII with pretty impressive visuals all in a tiny box.

The technology is there, companies NEED to start utilising it, consoles are literally the bane of my life.

Watch Dogs does look good, graphics wise but thats it. I wasn't really impressed.

People are saying this was the highlight of E3 and game looked amazing. But I wonder if that's said because of the graphics. Don't want be this be a Infinity Blade on the iPad situation, people say how good the game is. When really the graphics are good but the gameplay isn't.

I wouldn't be so sure. Nintendo have just been incredibly successful by doing exactly that with the Wii, they have all the proof they need to tell them it's not worth joining the arms race.

I'd love to see them put some serious power under the hood, I just don't think they will, Nintendo like to make profit on their consoles from day one.

I also mentioned this in the PC thread, but for me it was mainly the sheer about of NPCs and their detail, but also having the graphics at a decent level as well.

If this would be a clear indication of what next-gen open world games can do, then I can imagine bucketloads more civilian deaths in a GTA game for example. :D

Exactly, that place looked like a city and like an exhibition would, it was full of people rather than having a few standing around stationary waiting to be talked to. The mechanics looks interesting and open to multiple paths...tbh the graphics (which were great obviously) had me less interested than the setting, scope and gameplay style shown.
