Im looking to get a tube ticket, for various journeys in 1 day.
Looked into the system and im starting in the highest zone iirc (Watford) and will be traveling through them all.
I saw they do a day ticket for all zones, but were the hell do i buy it?!

At the station where the train leaves from? Might be worth you getting an Oyster card though even if you use it once a year.

Wasnt sure if you could actually purchase them from there, and wanted it in advance prefferably.
I thought Oyster cards were just pay as you go, what advantage would it give me?

They can be pay-as-you-go or you can load a weekly, monthly or annual travelcard onto them.

TFL wants to discourage people from using paper tickets so they make the same journey cheaper if you use an Oyster card. I think you need to pay a £5 deposit for the Oyster card but it pays for itself very, very quickly.

get an oyster pay as you go.

then just use it when you come into town. much cheaper way of getting round.

credit doesn't expire on it.

It's pretty much a one off thing so wont be used again.
I Found the travelcards ect, but they only seem to do zone 1-6, were as watford seems to be zone 8.

What will your routes be in this day? Oyster cards aren't always cheaper. If you're travelling between zones 1-6 multiple times, the only thing the Oyster Card does is cap your spend. So if a travel card costs £8.30, the Oyster Card will keep adding the £x.xx journeys every time you swipe in and out, and when you hit the cost of a travelcard, it stops.

If you're travelling a lot over one day, in actual fact an Oyster Card won't work out any cheaper - and you'll still have to pay the deposit.

Edit:

Yes you can get Zone 1-9 travelcards cards, they're £11.60.

I hope this link can help.

You can order a loaded Oyster online, or get a paper ticket from the station. With Oyster it will cap pay as you go once it reaches the upper limit for a days travel (at the cost of a travelcard or something) as long as you load a minimum of £10 onto it.

I think a paper ticket would be most convenient, and you could ask at the station how you would go about it.

Edit: Nevermind, someone has been more helpful.

Get a travelcard mate

How old are you ? Maybe you have a 16-25 railcard. These allow you to buy a travelcard really cheaply. If not, I think it's 8.60 for an all zones travelcard (off peak). If you have, you will pay 5.60 off peak

If its just one day and you are travelling from Watford I wouldn't bother with an Oyster card.

To travel from Watford the only method of transport using the Oyster card is Overground which takes ages to get to Euston.

You can instead buy at the station a ticket for the London Midland rail service that gets you into Euston quick, but the same ticket is also an all day travel card for the Underground. Job done.

Excellent. Now if i can just find the thing!

21, but no railcard or anything.
Im aware you can buy them but i cant actually find them on the website!

You can get them from the ticket office at the station. Or at least you should be able to. There's a ticket office at every major rail station.

Edit: Using a travelcard will grant you access via any route as long as it's included under the TfL banner, so the paper tickets can be used on Oyster services but let you go via the quicker routes mentioned above.

They sell them at both the ticket office and the electronic pay machines at Watford Station.

I think the only benefit to buying tickets online tends to be with rail travel that is a good distance into the future, so I doubt there is any advantage to be made buying online.

Correct, there is no better deal from buying London travelcard/general tickets online before hand.

Not true.

A) You can get a fast train to Euston that makes very few stops.

It's still very slow compared to London Midland and Virgin. I used to loathe when there was weekend engineering work and only the Overground was running back when I used to commute into London.

B) Part of the metropolitan line terminates in Watford.

That's off on a spur, so you have to wait for the right train.
Again it also takes longer than the above services and it's also not at Watford Junction.
