Need to replace the pads on my Corolla. I can either buy the original pads from Toyota or go aftermarket. (53 plate out of warranty.

Is it best sticking with Original or can anyone recommend a good brand/aftermarket alternative?

Cheers!

I've recently opted for the greenstuff pads on both my normal and track cars and I've only been impressed thus far. Very predictable, consistent braking and little to no fade on track, and no fate whatsoever on the road. Brake dust is exceptionally minimal and I'm yet to hear any noise from them.

As for wear rate, couldn't tell you as they've both only done circa 1500 miles.

They're pretty cheap, too.

every set of EBC pad's i've ever used one of the pads braking surface has broken away from the backing plate, probably used about 7-8 sets on different cars over the years, loved the performance, hated that problem and having to bin half worn pads

Don't know about DS2500 but this is the case with greenstuff that I'm running, they feel decidedly mediocre until you get some heat in them. I will not be replacing them with the same.

Why would you want these on a normal car you drive every day. Don't these need warming up before they're any good?

Mine are fine from cold, better bite and feel when hot but nothing at all worrying about their cold performance. Absolute overkill unless you plan on doing track days, not to mention expensivea! Pagid or standard Ferrodos will be fine.

You're joking right?

Coming from OEM pads, the DS2500s are utterly terrible first thing in the morning. As In, I started braking for the junction at the end of my drive extremely early. It was like using wooden chocks instead of pads.

Once warm and hot they were bloody excellent.

I have had two sets of DS2500s.

The first set didn't seem to work well from cold but I didn't have proper chance to follow the bed on procedure and I was probably a bit too hard on them after that. I didnt bed them in well enough, and then I think I cooked them before bedding them in...!

The set I have now I was really careful to follow the bed in procedure to the absolute letter and they seem much much better from cold. Like Dogbreath says, in my view they have plenty of bite from cold, far from useless.

Pah, DS2500, you need Carbone Lorraine in your life.

1. Like throwing anchors out your boot.
2. Squeel like a shed full of stuck pigs.
3. Throw out enough dust to rival any sandstorm.

:D

Op asks for brake pads and does not state intended use or even engine size insinuating that it will be a standard road car.
The lack of a mention of the model also suggests that the car is standard.

Ocuk motors suggest ds2500s...

Because racecar

Just been doing the same research for my Celica on the club forum actually. The Ferodo DS2500 are highly recommended indeed but they are £100+ a pair. The mainstream one is the Ferodo Premier at around £30 a pair which I believe are equivalent to the OEMs. Unless OP is planning to do spirited driving, they should be ok on the rears but maybe get better pads for the fronts.

A few reports of the EBC pads falling apart as mentioned above but rumours that they might just be a dodgy batch or fakes. Undecided if I want to risk them.

Sounds like my Carbotech XP8s :p

I've heard about them, and my CL are the less dusty, more fast road type RC5+. The more hadcore pads must be crazy!
