What wattage PSU do I need?

Hi all,

I'm super close to spending £1,200 on a new rig... I can't really afford it and I don't 'need' it, but I do really fancy it, and like a child I keep 'building' a basket full of all the stuff I need.
Anyway, in my never ending quest to make it great but still under £1,200 I change stuff periodically because something good is on a 'this week only' offer or the price has gone up because stuff in the basket is no longer on offer etc, and today I've removed the PSU.

I'm going to be getting an i5, a GTX670 and have around 5 or six fans in the case.
I'm very unlikely to add a second card later on but I guess its not out of the question that I will one day upgrade the GPU.

So, what size PSU do I need? I did have an 850W in my initial spec but I'm wondering if that may be a little overkill?

Be warned, if you give me the right answer you could be the reason I spend cash which would be better used on something more constructive! :D

If I was you, you are spending that much on a rig, you need a quality PSU.
You need to ask yourself, might you get another 670 down the line?
Treat the 850 as a safety net for future upgrades.

If are going to stick with a single gpu solution then a quality branded PSU from 550 to 650w would be fine.

Cheers dude, but I'm told I need low profile RAM due to the aftermarket CPU cooler, and I've looked at loads of different PSU's, mainly to keep the price down but eventually I decided that if I'm spending this much and I really want a fully modular PSU, I should really get one, plus apparently the main power cable is short on that one and I'm set on the big full tower case.

Very open to the different SSD though, just going with the crucial because it was recommended. Were you just going with that one to save the tenner or have you had good experience/heard good things about it?

Cheers for looking either way dude :)
