the future of bodybulding

It's common knowledge that people with more weight will require more muscle mass to move around. That's not saying people with a stagnant life style will gain the muscle. But fat people who keep moving will most definitely develop muscle to cope.

As for marines doing runs carrying weight, etc. You realise how much cardio those guys do and how much protein and food they would have to eat to gain muscle while following those massively cardio based training sessions? That's why they arent huge.

I'm currently suffering similar, Gym 3 times a week. Minimum gains, due to burning 1500 calories at work, Thats not including what I burn in the gym or just at rest. I have to eat so damn much :\

lol.

The future of body building will be some kind of regulated synthetic drug. But even then you will still need stimulus to the muscle to promote growth.

Or more advanced drugs. It's technically possible to mess with the normal processes and get muscle growth without it. Check out the two mice in this article:

It's being researched as a treatment for diseases like muscular dystrophy, but it'll be looked at by bodybuilders who'd take drugs for it. Initial indications are that it appears to be much less harmful and much more effective than steroids, so no doubt some bodybuilders would use such a drug if it became available. Clinical trials on humans are currently being done, so it's a distinct possibility.

It pops up as a natural mutation in some animals, has been deliberately bred in cows and can occur naturally in humans.

EDIT: Hmm, something going wrong there. The URL goes back to OcUK. Ah well, I'll put the link down here instead:

On the other hand, find me someone who was obese for years who slimmed down and didn't have massive calves...

Off an a silly tangent (well, it is a Kwerk thread), couldn't you get much the same effect by exercising in a suit of armour? That's additional weight distributed over your body, which sounds very similar to higher g. It has the added advantage of looking funnier, too! Imagine a gym full of people working out in full plate armour. Also, you get the satisfaction of knowing you'll be contributing to an interesting contradiction for future archaeologists tp puzzle over :)

You can get weight vests for this purpose, I've seen people doing pullups and pushups wearing them. Quite expensive though I think.

Who said anything about training all muscles the same?
And yes you carry extra weight around all day, you are going to increase you muscle mass regardless of what you think. You take there starting muscle mass and there end uncle mass there will be a significant difference.

Now if you are talking just about bodybuilding, then you need to do very high weights.

Now if you increas the G even more and do body building type of exercise you could receive those sort of body building results. Whilst getting. A more balanced overall training.

But then there's the other issue of stability. And forces acting on you sideways.

So I guess what you are saying is that this could be a potential alternative to conventional weight training, if it wasn't so ludicrously extravagant and impractical.

:p

Pretty much :p, as my first post said lolkwerk.
Also the gun topic, he should have watched lock N' Load today. Showed the difference between black powder and smokeless powder. Smokeless powder was actual a slower controlled burn, yet gave the bullet 4x as much energy.

It works, it's just not practice and hence lolkwerk. People struggle for room for a weights bench. Let alone size, weight, cost, safety of such a contraption.

Erm..what about the fact that putting your body in multiple G forces for any length of time will make it virtually impossible to breath, apply massive force to your rib cage and lungs and affect your blood flow and heart function?

Just 2G force would be way too much to sustain for longer than a few minutes at best.

The 'idea' does not work, for more reasons than cost/time/availability.

I'll stick to the olympic barbell. Any ride at the fairground that spins makes me nausea for the rest of the day. This contraption would have to spin pretty fast to get the proposed equivalent of 210KG...I would barf protein shake and Jack3d instantly...

If you told women that just standing on them would make them lose weight, you'd make a fortune.

tanning shops already do...

they have some machine you stand on and it shakes around aparently its as god as working out for XX amount of time....

not just women, some of the lads in work wholeheartedly believe in them too.

apparently the shaking causes "fat cells to break up due to the vibration" this makes you lose weight.

Stupidity depresses me.
