Unemployed bussed in to steward jubilee, unpaid and asked to sleep rough

Well some woman from the company involved was on Radio 4 this morning, being interviewed along with Jon Prescott.
According to her, it was a logistical/planning error; the bus transporting the prisoners... sorry security people arrived 2 hours early, hence there being a 2 hour wait.

The bus was hired from some other company, hence it sodding off. There was a Security employee aboard the bus, and his conduct [in not making the bus wait] is being looked at internally.
Normally during this kind of event, security staff get changed on the bus. I've heard this sort of thing from someone I know who's worked for G4S on events. Seems reasonable.
The uniforms were not on the bus, they were brought by a separate minibus later, hence having to get changed outside... an inconvenience, but not completely unacceptable imho.

The people who were complaining about the swamp of a campsite were offered dry, sheltered (inside) accommodation, but they declined this as it was communal and chose to try and pitch a tent in the rain. Their choice. The fact it was communal accommodation was explained to them right from the start.

Mount Everest out of a Shrew Poo if you ask me.

That said, if it happens again this way for the Olympics.... then that IS out of order. Completely.

Well I guess that part is bad, but I don't see what's wrong with making people do something to get their payments.

The problem is that private companies are using this scheme under the guise of giving "work experience" to uneployed people. They get free labour and larger profits. The job market suffers because jobs that could have been filled with people getting at least the national minimum wage are being filled with modern day slaves so it does NOTHING to reduce unemployment.

It's a scheme introduced by the tories to get their corporate buddies and sponsors free labour to boost their bottom line. It's sick.

They aren't working for the government. They're working for a private company.

From what I've read, it *costs* the goverment money to implement this Work Prgramme. If fact from what I've read it could cost millions annually.

Who does it benefit? Private companies who get free labour...

And the conservative party who get nice big donations from those running these private companies. Nice little scheme they've got going, isn't it?

I don't see the problem. This is how all poor people should be treated.
You are quite a disgusting cur.

I hope you get killed on the way home from work today.

this is me using the same kind of rhetoric to mock this attitude of the above poster, I don't really wish that - he might damage a tree or something

I know im joining this thread late and this has probably already been voiced but...

They have received some training and free PPE but most importantly they were volunteers.

Some people in this thread are making it sound like the poor jobless people are being rounded up and forced to sleep rough and serve the rich. Get a grip.

At least they are not being forced to spend hundreds of Pounds to gain access and sleep in a field to be allowed to watch rich people on a stage

They also got a security pass worth £250 which allows them to work in other security jobs, and they have actual work experience to go on their CV. The whole thing has been blown out of the water by the typical guardian, BBC and the man of the people Prescott. Hopefully the mantra of forcing those who don't want to work will continue.

Which then ends up flooding a job market already flooded with prats that the job centre have put through the course and got the badge, meaning those of us who have paid their own way and can actually do and enjoy the job missing out because we refuse to work for minimum wage.
Whereas most of the people the job centre put through it will happily work for minimum wage and get poo'd on by their employers because they've got a door badge and can go around telling everyone they're a big scary bouncer, when in reality the best place to find them when something goes wrong is "checking the toilets"
