Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket

I'm sure there are loads more I am missing.

I'm off travelling to Asia soon and have recently become obsessed with the history. Got some time to kill now I've finished my job before I go so figured I'd buy some films to fill the time.

Cheers

As well as the above films:

Flight Of The Intruder
Bat*21

If you can extend yourself to a TV series as well as films - Tour Of Duty

Thanks for the suggestions.

Can anyone comment on which of these films are historically accurate/educational and which are more fictional?

we were soldiers is pretty much accurate (few bits not right but 99% there)
air america based on true events but made up characters

platoon supposed to be oliver stones experiences rolled up into a non factual film
full metal jacket based on a book that was supposed to be somewhat true (the short timers)

bat21 is based on real events

deer hunter not based on any real events

gump not based on fact either lol but very good vietnam scenes

The Green Berets is the most lol-worthly unrepresentive vietnam film ever made

Platoon is easily the best IMO.

Apocalypse Now is overrated trash on a level with Scarface.
