Hi all, gave my car a bit of a wash over the weekend, nothing too in depth, just a scrub over with some Meguirs NXT shampoo and a rinse off and i've noticed theres a hell of a lot of little white stone chips and loads of really stuck on tar like bits on the car!

Whats the best way of repairing those stone chips as they're on the bonnet, bumper, wheel arches and down along the sill on the side? Is there any particular product you guys would recommend?

And also, whats the best way of getting rid of the tar marks? I'd quite like to get rid of all of them, give it is a nice wash and finish with a wax at some point as it hasnt had a proper clean over for AGES.

Can anyone recommend me any products for the tar marks? I've read something about using a clay bar?! Is that the right thing?

The car is a Colorado Red Fiesta Zetec-S if that helps.

Any help much appreciated. Like I said i've got some Meguires NXT Shampoo, and some Gold Class Wax too.

Thanks!

Fords own touch up paint for the stone chips and Autosmart Tardis for the tar.

I use Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover. Works really well - Dab it onto the areas with tar, and it'll just fall off.

Bit of petrol will remove the tar. Be careful though, rub too hard and your paint will go too.

For the tar - Use a clay bar and iron X. I tried this at the weekend on my sisters white Swift. What she thought was loads of tiny stone chips were gone after a spray of iron x, a hose down then a rub over with a clay bar. Don't get me wrong it toke me the best part of 2 hours but damn does it look good.

I bought a clay bar kit a few weeks back and did the bonnet to start with, it's amazing how easy it was to take off those tiny little black marks. Problem is though, you go over it with such detail you then learn every single mark on the panel :p

So what would be the best procedure for this? Clay bar the whole car and get it all spick and span, then touch up the paint chips with fords kit or touch them up first and then clay bar it?
