High street phone shops

How long until these die off.

Went into two shops. Orange and cpw looking to purchase a galaxy 3.

cPw were looking £31pm with £50 up front for a two yr contract.
Orange were looking £36 pm for a 3yr contract.
Why would anyone want a three yr deal?
Online I can get the deal I want for £24ish

Any one else get these stupid deals offered to them?
 
The best phones4u could offer me was a 2 year deal at £41 per month for the S3. To quote them, "Anything under £41 a month and it'll be hundreds for the phone on top".

I doubt they sold many with that, especially with CPW 3 doors away offering far better deals.

Lots of people still go into the stores to get their upgrades etc though. Crazy, but the 'average' person doesn't seem to have any concept of shopping around for the best deal.
 
Another 2 years and they will all be closed down. My friend works in vodafone and sales have dropped 110%
