It's upgrade time from my original SGS1 that I have had for 2 years now. I like the Note as I tred it in the shop last week but they didnt have the S3 on display. The lagging on my SGS1 was annoying, does the Note (or will it) lag due to the lowish dual core CPU compared to the S3?

The Note doesn't lag. It may be marginally slower than the S3 overall but we're talking really small differences.

I can't see it having too many long term problems either.

The Note is great, I love mine but if I was getting a phone now I'd get the S3, it'll be 30+ weeks till we get the Note 2 in UK shops, so wait for that and get an S3 now :D

Thanks, why would you get the S3 rather than the Note?

ah I thought you were having specific problems with the note.

No, non at all, great screen, fast inards cool accessories, if the size is not an issue it has no negatives, I'm so happy with the Note that I can easily hold off purchasing the S3 for a black S3 or even Note 2.

If you get it don't save 2/5 quid a month nerfing your data get unlimited, let it run free unencumbered with data worries, watch and download what you want when you want, it's much better that way.

im also looking at the note or s3

tried both, like both

would like the bigger screen but also like the quad core of the S3, do any applications use quad core yet?

will be buying sim free, note is cheaper then the s3 too

arrgghh! decisions

Note defintely doesn't suffer performance wise (not to say it couldn't be better) max payne plays on it at 1280x800 all settings maxed and mostly fluid framerates (feels like 18-40fps).

They are both excellent phones. I currently have both, but will be putting my Note up for sale this week as I recently purchased an S3.

Reasons I got the S3:

- User experience is better overall
- Feels a lot smaller to hold then the Note yet screen is still relatively large
- Notification LED on S3 is very useful
- I found battery life to be better on the S3
- I found the S3 on a good deal (£422 total over 2 years)

The above is not to say the Note is slow, its not. The latest ICS update has it running nice and smooth, and the screen is BRILLIANT. If you can live with the size and don't find it too big and don't want to pay too much, get the Note. If you can fork out a little more and want the overall better user experience with the more polished Android, get the S3.
