Idiots in the gym just when you think you've seen it all before

You're the one making a fuss about taking the dedicated bar away from the olympic bench, the reasonable thing to do I would have thought would be take to dumbbells.

And besides, dumbbells give you more flexiblity in finding a grip and bar path that suits you compared to barbells. They require more effort to stablize and can be worked one arm at at time. They also can have increased range of motion compared to the barbell.

It's also not possible for the weaker arm to be carried by the stronger as is the case with barbell movements.

Why can't he use a BB if he wants to? Especially if there were several free, along with other benches, like he says.

Your reasons for choosing DVD over bbs are purely circumstantial.

I assume the scenario is as follows, bench 1 is being used by op, bench 2 empty with bar on, gym numpty comes along and gets bar from bench to and comes monkeying along to bench 1 that op is using to rest the bar on between sets.

If the above is the case then I totally agree this gym sounds like a complete noob, and I would have quite happily told him to move that f-ing bar back to the empty bench!

This isn't as annoying as guys using the weight clips from the squat-rack on the smith machine which seems to happen quite a lot in my gym...

Bicep curls whilst standing in the squat rack chatting and laughing with mates is surely the ultimate. Or hogging a particular machine/bench/weight for 1.5 hours. I hate gyms, hence quit. Very productive of me I know. ;)

I was in the steam room the other day with the missus, when in walked a big whale of a man and his friend, sat along side us. He was proper massive, like austin powers big fat ******* massive. His friend asked him if he had been 'upstairs' today (the gym), to which he gracefully replied no.

MMmmmmmmm steam that blubber away. STEEEEEAAAAAAMMMMM!

They also can have increased range of motion compared to the barbell.
theres a curl technique where you do it with a barbell and try to push your hands towards each other as you curl which gives you a really nice chest hit
i believe arnold was a huge fan of doing it

I would prefer flexibility and power to range of motion any day regarding the barbell v dumbell debate.
