Hi is it possible to get bf3 running on ultra, 4 x AA, e.tc, basically everything on max and still get high framerates 100+
obviously talking multi gpu set up i think here.

Nope...for that you need to look at something like SLI GTX680 or CF 7970 or GTX690.

SLI GTX670 would probably the come closest to that but without breaking the bank (too much).

But for multiplayer on BF3, I would imagine during some very intensive moments, you would be CPU limited (despite you are on i5 2500K at 4.6GHz) if you had something like SLI GTX670 or above (for example graphic card can do 100fps, but CPU can only do 80fps during those intensive moments).

I'm pretty sure the OP specifically asked about the scenerio of getting 100+fps, which you guys conveniently ignored...

But I have to wonder...does the OP has a 120Hz monitor? Cause otherwise it would be a bit pointless asking about 100+fps if his monitor can only do 60fps max...

I really want to upgrade my rigs CPU (desktop in sig)

In bf3 mp, I know my CPU is a bottleneck. Altering the mesh quality makes a big difference. I play maxed out except mesh on medium.

Just wonder if a jump will get me over 100 in 64 man games.

I average 90+ on 32 man, 85+ on 64 man.

For £400 you can see 100+fps but the average will be below that. For reference my setup will still dip into the low 70's on a 64 man server.

How are the GPU usage of your two GTX670 when you are hitting low 70s? I'm guessing it is CPU limited at those situation rather than the GTX670SLI not having enough grunt?

I've not got that performance log any more but on the current one I can see in one game a minimum of 81.854 FPS with GPU1 80% and GPU2 87% usage.
I think this was in metro.

So that would be CPU limitation. Probably need higher overclock or something like an overclocked i5 3570K (which has higher IPC) to increase scaling to push the GPU usage to above 90% at those scenes.

Yea well MSI's mobo overclocking is pretty naff, there's no offset voltage so I have to leave voltage at auto to retain the speed step. If I was changing processor I'd change mobo as well.

It still plays very smooth anyway.

Shame we can't Crossfire/SLI CPU and get extra 60-100% performance just like graphic cards :D

Yes there motherboard that can use two CPU, but it's pointless so long as games are thread limited...

Are you talking about 1080p?

At 2560x1440 ultra my 7970 CF dips to 50 odd on some of the big B2K 64 player maps.

You could pick up a second hand 590, @ 1920x1080 with everything maxed out, AA etc. It very rarely drops below 70fps
