hello, i have a problem with my PC where sound only seems to work when being connected through a hdmi cable (using that as a sound output). if i try to use for example my headphones it just does not work? could it be my drivers or perhaps something else?

help would be much appreciated

thanks, Elliot

Sounds like HDMI is selected as the default sound device in Windows sound properties. You will have to select your onboard audio as the default device, in order to use headphones or any analogue speakers.

even if i change it to any of them on the list, it still does not work?

It could be disabled. Go to Start > Control Panel > Notification Area Icons. Makes sure show icon and notifications is selected next to volume.

That won't fix any sound problem if there is one, but it should bring back the task bar sound icon, assuming it is disabled.

If you have set sound playback properties to Speakers Realtek, assuming you have Realtek onboard audio, and it still does not work, it could be a driver issue.

I have VIA HD Audio deck installed right now, if it is a driver issue, do you know of a site or program which could resolve the issue? thanks
