Ok, so this has fallen off for a long time now
I'm pretty certain that it is for sound because the day it fell of, the sound stopped working

It says EC11 and EC13 in the place that it fell of

Well its a capacitor, any idea where it fell off from? Should be easy to put back or replace, are both 'legs' present? looks like one maybe missing? If so it needs to be replaced. Why do your pcs fall apart like this so often?

Yeah, where the screw is (near it)
They are old, sorry
One leg is gone
Any idea where to buy one?

That is not going back.

It is a surface mounted component.

It would be difficalt to replace and cost more to fix than the motherboard is worth.

Eh? if its those solder pads by the screw it'll be quite easy to fix, just get a comparable can without the black holder bit, few seconds with an iron and jobs done.

Ok, so one without the black holder, will i need to remove the solder pads?
Also, there are 2 solder pads (pictured) is there supposed to be 2 capacitors?
Will one capacitor leg go to each pad, or will i need two capacitors?

No, just solder the legs to the pads, making sure the polarity is correct. If you're certain it came from there. What board is it? What writings are on the casing of the capacitor?

The mobo is the
MSI MS-7050 ver 1.3
says on the capacitor
59
10
1.6v

You sure its not 10 16v? If you can find a non surface-mount capacitor in that capacity then the legs will easily solder to the pads. A SMC isn't that hard to solder though.

Also take note on online images of the board where the 'coloured' side of the cap is pointed (north in relation to the board), if you do try this.

Doesn't matter that the voltage rating is 16 if the old cap is 1.6. It just means you bought a massively overspecced part :p. However I doubt that the original was just 1.6V. I have tiny tiny caps that can take more volts than that.

Yea can't seem to find any 1.6v parts like that, well if it was 1.6v theres no way the board can blow it up now :D
