700 on a new gaming rig, can you take a look at my spec

ok cheers for the advice i'll probably go with the geil ram then! besides the UK based RMA why else would you chose the gigabyte mobo over the msi one hon?

Personally I think it looks nicer, secondly the OCuk description is vague and I linked the manufacturers webpage for the mobo and that's hardly any better. I like to know exactly what the kit is and what to expect from it before i cough up for it.

Mobo has THX rated audio like the MSI, still does Xfire/SLI. It's more money but I do love it's looks. I will be ordering it's baby bro the mini-itx version soon.

Heatsink is v.good and colour coded to the RAM and mobo.

Where did you find confimation that the G45 does Sli. I know its xfire compliant, but i cannot find any mention of Sli.

You can make Xfire mobos SLI if you use the hyperSLI software (certainly unnecessary faff). I still hate how vague the product description is for that MSI mobo

Might as well just get a mobo that does both, out the box.
Thats the good thing about Asus and GB, plenty of good info on their boards.

Hi guys about to order now so gonna just post up my basket so you can all give it a once over :) ive gone with the gigabyte motherboard and also chose the Corsair TX 650w PSU over the cooler master one as I have read some good reviews on it and im a bit wary as to why the coolermaster is being sold so cheap, maybe its a poor performer and OCuk need to get rid? I've also chose the geil dragon ram under hons advice, oh and just to mention i've found a great deal on the Gelid Tranquilo Rev.2 so probably going to get that from another source do you think thats ok guys? It's the updated version of the Tranquilo so surely it performs better? Oh and I forgot to mention I'm going to be using my old PCI Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card from my old system that board has a PCI slot so should be fine right?

No need for the corsair PSU, less for more money. And the cooler master is modular so less mess of cables in your case. With the extra money you can get a CPU cooler as well :)

Might be a good idea to include a GPU maybe? the 6850 will definately help in games and watching videos at high resolutions?

If you dont need a GPU 700W is ridiculous as well as 650, Best to put a 450/500W in the basket then:

You didn't read the brief. He said he will buy a GPU in a few weeks (£200-300). We have already spec'd the CM 700W PSU as it would cover say two 7850s on ivybridge.

If he wants a different PSU that is his call, I wouldn't have spec'd the CM unit if I thought it was garbage. I've used the 600W unit and that is good and quiet too. That thermal paste is not needed though, the tranquillo comes with a lil tube of the stuff. I have the Rev 2, from what I can tell it's supports FM1 sockets too but other changes are very hard to notice.

I suggested that GEIL RAM as it was under £30 it has now gone up in price so something like this would have been my basket

CM silent pro 700W is a decent PSU, especially for the price. Plenty for juice for a decent graphics card setup.

Guys have specced you well... that's a really good system there.. Get that Buy button pressed :p
