And that, is why I wear joggers on DL days :p. In other news, I'm finally starting to see some strength gains from eating like a pig. As some of you may recall, I was pretty much cutting weight for 18months (133kg-75kfg) and plateaued strength wise for at least the 2nd half of that.

At the start of April I started eating around 2400kcals and also kicked off Starting Strength.

5x5s @74.4kg
Squat 100 (high bar)
Bench 70
BOR 55
Dead 110
OHP 47.5

Now I'm
5x5s @ 78kg
Squat 115(low bar, took my time getting used to this. I have silly long thighs/short torso so getting parallel is bloody hard)
Bench 77.5
BOR 65
Dead 120
OHP 47.5 (Yes this has stayed the same, BB press does not work well with me :(. Gonna change to DBs next week)

Slow but steady progress, Squat seems unstoppable compared to everything else though which is a bit frustrating. I'm fairly confident of a 127.5/130 1RM squat and 140+ DL, so I'm getting close to that magical 1x/1.5x/2x Bench/Squat/DL ratio.

Well not only did I have brain fart yesterday while training at the wrong weight, but I also sunburnt terribly yesterday when I decided to spend the day in the garden.

Back and front burnt red and my knees and shins as well hahaha.

Going to be fun training when my shirt starts rubbing....

Don't sweat too much about the OHP, loads of people have issues pushing through plateaus on that it seems :)

Good work though mate! Keep at it. Are you doing a bulk now then? Or a steady bulk with minimum fat gain?

Well that's the plan but honestly it seems completely random, gonna change to 20% over maintenance on training days 20% under on off days from next week and see how that goes. I've gained ~4.5kg in just over 2 months which I think is a good rate to stick with.

Good work!
What are you doing for calf training?

Being the stubbon muscle that they are; i up the reps considerably. I pefrormed last week;

Calf Press On The Leg Press Machine x25 (neutral) x25 (inward) x25 (outward) x4
Standing Barbell Calf Raise (heavy) x40 x5

heard a comment the other day you either have traps or you have calf's. I have traps :D

I've got neither.

:D

May have to switch to standing barbell soon, my grips going if I hold the bar down at my waist.

Rofl...OH YOU!!!!

Seriously though. Ultra did you not have issues last time? Or was that something unrelated?

Unsure fella, complicated stuff tbh, potentially by coincidence i became gluten intolerant, and i did not react very well to one particular compound. But overall was a very productive period of training. Bottom line is ive never claimed to want the natty look and im as experienced as i need to be to progress down this path. No time like the present :)

Oh i've never debated that, I just thought you had issues previously :)

As you say though, may have been a co-incidence, so you'll just have to see what happens this time round I guess.

yeah im not bullish about it, health is a serious business and i dont mess about with it idly. People do far far more damaqging things to themselves daily though and they dont spend 12 hours a week exercising

Ah Ultra, you'll be riding your bike to work with me then? I may have to e-mail you at some point, as I'm still a novice cyclist

Are you riding now then? Or just planning a lengthy journey?

Shame we can't be a bit more open about these things :(
