Hey wasn't sure weather to post this here or in the laptop thread sorry.

When i opened my laptop up the other day to replace the HDD with an SSD i noticed that i only have one ram stick (4GB) out of two slots. Would the laptop speed increase by adding another stick? Bit like dual channel ram i guess.

Laptop is a Lenovo Z370 if that helps.

Thanks.

Adding another stick would give you dual channel operation but it's not going to bring a performance increase you're likely to notice in day to day use.

Also unless you have a 64 bit operating system then you're not going to be able to make use of any more RAM than you have now.

Thanks for the reply, I do have windows 7 64 bit, it came with the laptop.
If its not a noticeable difference then i will stick with the 4GB as i don't need more ram than that it would have just been for the speed increase.

you may see a little difference in games or video/graphics editing but the big jumps in ram performance are the 1-2Gb (32bit OS) and 2-4Gb (64 bit OS) beyond 4 Gb theres little improvement for day to day use.
