what motherboard will take 4 gpus , the pci slots been nicely spaced

the cards in mind is 2 x gtx 470 and then another 2 cards unsure of what at this time

Ones that spring immediately to mind are:

Rampage IV Extreme
Rampage IV Formula
MSI Big Bang Xpower II

and possibly the P9X79 WS.

I'm sure there are more, but that was off the top of my head.

You also need to make sure you have enough expansion slots on your case, 4 double slot cards will take 8, and a standard ATX case usually has 7.

just noticed i have a corsair 300r, so think ill fit 3 into my case.

im on z77 board now , but its nearly the cheapest asus board you can get with 2 pci e slots

My vote is Rampage IV extreme with 3930K all 8x lanes with low latency of CPU lanes. Designed with four gpu's in mind.

If you have 2xGTX470, why not just upgrade them if they're not powerful enough? 2xGTX680 for example.

Cheaper and less complicated than a new motherboard and wiring up 4 graphics cards.
